Individuals must have the power to decide if they want to put an end to their life.
Suicide might be the only solution to someone’s problem. Some would say it is a selfish act, but all the people do selfish things through their lives. Unbelievably committing suicide is illegal in some states. But to be more specific actually attempting suicide is illegal, because if it is done you are dead, but in case of failure, the person would face more drama in their life. A suicidal person is suffering from serious mental issues, which if not treated can be a threat to society, and adding up to their issues is of no good.
It is totally a personal choice, as far as you have no dependent family member who is totally relied on you. Throwing yourself into a car to die and cause serious problems for others for the rest of their lives is immoral. When the only motivation behind attempting suicide is to draw attention, is so inadequate. The most disturbing case might be committing suicide in front of others, especially those who care about that person. Other than those cases mentioned above there is no one more legitimate than the person themselves to decide about their life or death.
Some decisions in life are beyond personal, like abortion. During the early stages of pregnancy the fetus has no heart and absolutely no emotion. Maybe no one realizes that it is the mother to be, who in fact has a heart, soul, and emotion. If someone is not ready financially and emotionally to have a kid but is forced to, society is not going to take care of them. Society cannot decide on such a life changing decision. When mother is not ready to have a baby, that kid might not going to experience a great parenting. It is absolutely ins...

...ake me come to the realization that utopia does not exists.
Whether you think that you are living a free life or not, come directly from your expectations of a free nation. One may be living in a dictator country and yet believe that he is living freely in a paradise, merely because he has been told so. But it does not mean that individuals must be kept from their own rights. Once you have the right to express your thoughts freely and without any consequences you can say you are guaranteed a free life.
Without freedom, safety would eventually lead to dictatorship and fascism. A free nation with less security has a better potential to build up and grow than the nation which is safe but not free. Giving people the right to choose their own way of living will slowly help them grow intellectually more, so they will determine their own safety too.
Another reason a patient may opt to euthanasia is to die with dignity. The patient, fully aware of the state he or she is in, should be able choose to die in all their senses as opposed to through natural course. A patient with an enlarged brain tumor can choose to die respectively, instead of attempting a risky surgery that could leave the patient in a worse condition then before the operation, possibly brain-dead. Or a patient with early signs of Dementia or Alzheimer’s disease may wish to be granted euthanization before their disease progresses and causes detrimental loss of sentimental memories. Ultimately it should be the patient’s choice to undergo a risky surgery or bite the bullet, and laws prohibiting euthanasia should not limit the patient’s options.
. Should people have the moral right to end their lives if they so please?
Individuals in society experience many changes that can make them feel overwhelm or feel accepted by their friends, family members and the rest of society. But there is times when people feel that they do not fit or feel welcome in their social group. Many people face their difficulties and achieve success others are do not have such luck. The individuals that are not lucky finishes their life committing suicide. Suicide is an act of taking one’s own life voluntarily and intentionally that affects not only immediate family and friends but indicates factors in society that are influencing individuals to commit this act. Is important to understand what aspects in society are making individuals to take their own live? And if
One constant between all cultures is the understanding that all lives will come to an end. Throughout one’s lifetime, virtue, character, and morality are sought, through different ideals and methods, with the overall endgame being the most ethical and desirable outcome possible. There are times, however, when an individual may feel like there is no hope of reaching a successful existence; therefore the act of suicide becomes a viable option. The decision to voluntarily take one’s life has always been a topic of discussion on ethical grounds. Whether or not the decision to die is an ethical one can be argued depending on from which ethical theory the act is being evaluated.
Suicide is the eleventh most common cause of death in the United States. According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, a person takes their own life once every fourteen minutes in the United States (American Foundation for Suicide Prevention [AFSP], 2011). Still, with suicide rates so high, suicide is a taboo topic in our society. Though suicide is intended to end one person’s pain, it causes an immeasurable amount of pain and suffering to loved ones close to the deceased.
Another instance, in which suicide could be justified as not wrong, is when it deals with the mentally unstable. This is also like child suicide, because the insane are not capable of judging right from wrong. No one knows the degree of sanity one needs to be able to decipher their own actions, so this is also completely left up t...

Do terminally ill patients have the right to choose death with the assistance of others? Do religious and political leaders have the right to intervene with a patientís decision to die with the assistance of others? These two questions are some of the many about which this increasingly complex debate thrives. Society is often asked to answer each ques...
Assisted suicide and euthanasia is a controversial issue all over the world, and it leads to debate as to whether or not an individual should be allowed to decide the moment and form of one’s death, along with the
The right to choose is one of the most hotly contested ideas in America. While abortion is the topic that usually comes to mind, the right to die is a debate that is becoming more prevalent in our society every day. Dr. Kevin Fitzpatrick writes in “Euthanasia: we can live without it…,” that people should not be able to choose if they can die. He defends his ideas by showing how euthanasia is not a fully regulated practice and not always done legally. He goes on to say that most people who choose euthanasia do not have terminal illnesses and are usually just unhappy with their lives. However, Dr. Philip Nitschke disagrees in “Euthanasia: Hope you never need it, but be glad the option is there,” saying that we should have euthanasia as a viable option. Nitschke believes that people should be able to have euthanasia as an option to put in their living will in cases of
Critics to the idea of providing dying patients with lethal doses, fear that people will use this type those and kill others, “lack of supervision over the use of lethal drugs…risk that the drugs might be used for some other purpose”(Young 45). Young explains that another debate that has been going on within this issue is the distinction between killings patients and allowing them die. What people don’t understand is that it is not considered killing a patient if it’s the option they wished for. “If a dying patient requests help with dying because… he is … in intolerable burden, he should be benefited by a physician assisting him to die”(Young 119). Patients who are suffering from diseases that have no cure should be given the option to decide the timing and manner of their own death. Young explains that patients who are unlikely to benefit from the discovery of a cure, or with incurable medical conditions are individuals who should have access to either euthanasia or assisted suicide. Advocates agreeing to this method do understand that choosing death is a very serious matter, which is why it should not be settled in a moment. Therefore, if a patient and physician agree that a life must end and it has been discussed, and agreed, young concludes, “ if a patient asks his physician to end his life, that constitutes a request for
Death persists as the great equalizer for all, and every person holds their own right to pass away when they wish. Presently in America, laws protect and grant citizens the right to order when and how they shall die when the circumstances do arise. People can assign now what is called a Do-Not-Resuscitate order (DNR) to exercise their freedom to control their own fate. The DNR order allows each individual his or her inalienable right to control their own fate. In America, all people face the choice of how and when they prefer to pass away, and physicians must respect and grant autonomy to their moribund patients while leaving their own convictions out of the circumstances with respect to the DNR order.
Suicide, may be said to happen, if and only if, there is an intentional end of someone's life. The doctrine converses that we should never break off anyone’s life, including ours, because life is internally estimable that we should cherish. Therefore chances of that the act, suicide, violating this concept depends on whether a life worthwhile or not. So how do we define a worthwhile life? There is no satisfactory answer. It is ponderable that fragile at best because in moments of despair, nothing seems worthwhile and a Prozac later, everything may be all right again.
So what is suicide? Suicide is where someone takes their own life intentionally. Every year more than 30,000 people in America of all races, cultures, and ages take their life. Among young people, more than 5,000 people kill themselves a year. (Kuehn, 6). The most common methods for committing suicide are: firearms, hanging, and drug overdose. (“Understanding Suicide And Self Harm”). Often suicide acts are under the influence of drugs and/ or alcohol, therefore affecting ones thoughts and actions.
Euthanasia should be allowed and only granted after the consult of at least two doctors after which the patient should be allowed to terminate his life.
