The Beatles
There has been many bands through the centuries, but none have stood out more than The Beatles. A Liverpool based band has never been bigger than the four-man band. They took the world by storm from their charm to their many styles of music. They changed the way that Rock and Roll was played over the decades and had a major influence on people’s lives.
When you sit down and ask people from the 1960s what band changed their lives, many would say it was the The Beatles. The band consisted of four guys that all went to same school. They were John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and George Harrison. The band didn’t consist of these men at first though. The band was made up of classmates from the Quarry Bank Grammar School in Liverpool, England. (World Book Advanced). After being called the Black Jacks, they then changed their name to The Quarrymen. They called themselves this, because thay wanted to represent their school. The original Quarrymen consisted of John Lennon, Pete Shotton, Eric Griffiths, Rod Davis, Bill Smith, and Colin Hanton. They played Skiffle music, which was a mixture of folk, jazz, and blues. This was popular in England at the time in the summer of 1957. When The Quarrymen were setting up for a performance in a church hall in 1957, a member of the band introduced Lennon to Paul McCartney. Paul auditioned for the band, when they finished their set. John like him as soon as he started playing. Paul was later invited to join on the spot in October, 1957, after the other members took some time to think about it. (AllMusic.com)

The Beatles consisted of four talented men: Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison and Richard Starkey. They had met at all different times and had one thing in common. They all loved music. McCartney, Lennon and Harrison all played guitar and Starkey, also known as Ringo Starr, played the drums. They started out as The Quarry Men, but eventually they changed the name to The Beatles. British rock ‘n’ roll began in the 1950’s and it wasn’t until the 1960’s when The Beatles heightened the start of the British Invasion. The band consisted of eclectic individuals such as John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. The Beatles’ group dynamic was founded on team-based operations as well as two-way innovations such as problem-to-solution and solution-to-problem of team building. However, like every group, internal and external interaction arose creating competition, which lead to both positive and negative conflict.
A major person that the Beatles has influenced was an artist named Kurt Cobain (widely known as the singer of Nirvana). Another short example of someone that was influenced by the Beatles was Gene Simmons (singer and bassist of KISS). Not only Artists but people were influenced by the words in the Beatles music to start fighting for rights of people. During the Vietnam war John Lennon would talk about how the world should come together and fight for peace. This came up to the song (Imagine) sung by John Lennon. The Beatles had a popular hairstyle that young teen boys got called “Mop-top”. Usually young teens wore this style of hair and it was highly mocked by adults. Clothing they wore eventually became popular to both male and female listeners. During the 1960’s, a very famous band came about, they were called The Beatles, they became the best known group in popular music (Ebsco Host). At the beginning of The Beatles career, they were called “The Quarrymen”. “The Quarrymen”, originated at John Lennon’s high school, when he became entertained by rock and roll in the mid-50’s. In 1960, “The Quarrymen” changed their name to “The Silver Beatles”. However, soon after they dropped the “Silver” and became just “The Beatles”.

Success was hard for the Beatles started as the Quarrymen then turning into the Silver Beatles and touring through Germany playing long hours’ day and night at different clubs and venues. In fact, and article written by Andrew Romano from the Daily Beast states that one of Gladwell’s theory is revolved around Hamburg during their intense hours of playing. He states that after the Beatles had reached their point of fame during 1964, they had performed a total of twelve hundred times which Gladwell states” the idea that excellence at performing a complex task requires a minimal level of practice”. According to Gladwell this is what allowed them to become they greatest rock band of all time. Although this was Beatles point of greatness, once returning to Liverpool they still had a point to prove the world. After Brian Epstein spent many days convincing different labels, being rejected by the same record labels, changing their style, and cleaning up their act for the music industry, they were finally able to sign a label with United Kingdom’s leading music record company during May of 1962. Since the earliest days of human civilization music has been a key tool for communication of stories which carried emotions through them. If we think back to our youngest years of life music has surrounded us whether it was from our parents singing us lullabies or from some sort of toy that played music we can say that musical melodies have helped shape or lives one way or another. Once we start growing up and figuring out who we are our musical preferences change; some people like classical and some like punk. We start to befriend people who like the same music as us and eventually we may attend a musical event. Our lives somewhat revolve around the music that we listen to.

In all, The Beatles made over 240 songs, and they recorded many singles and albums (Paul McCartney Biography). They formed groups, and the last of which was the Beatles. With John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, they became widely known as the greatest and most influential act of the era of rock (Hendersonville Lightning). The Beatles were formed in Liverpool, England in the year 1960 (John Lennon Biography). John Lennon played rhythm guitar and keyboard, and sang. From 1956 until 1962 they took pieces of popular American music to form into dance music (Grove, 321). John Lennon was also said to be the leader of the Beatles (Spangler).
When people think about the 60’s the majority of them all think about the Beatles. The Beatles is a band that made Rock and Roll a totally, different type of music. Even though The Beatles were such a hit, as time went on they started to fall apart. Over 50 years later, the Beatles are still classified as one of the best band of all time.
Music has been known throughout time. It can help us through everything. There are so many solutions with music to help a person go through so many situations. Music can affect many people in many different ways. Without music some people would be lost and would have no motivation. Music can provide inspiration and insight through education. Music has influence on suicides, killings and shootings, and provocative actions. It can also influence good morals, respect, allowing differences, health, and much more. Music can come in many forms and categories and music is very good for the world.

Right after they started writing songs, one of songs they wrote was named “The One After 909”. As the year was ending Paul McCartney convinced John Lennon to let George Harrison join the band. George Harrison was influenced by rockabilly; he soon became the lead guitarist. The Beatles stared becoming popular in Europe and they decided to travel to United States where they had the first show that started all. The show was 8 o’clock on February 9th 1964 “The Beatles” first live performance on United States soil, on the “Ed Sullivan Show” (more than 70 million people watched the performance). That year they held the top five slots in the single billboard chart and sold more than a billion records. They made their first movie called “A Hard Day’s Night” directed by Richard Lester, it over 1.3 million dollars on its first week after the release. They saw he opportunity to take advantage of the fame so they started selling Beatle wigs, clothes, dolls, and lunch boxes.
