In the contemporary society, illegal immigration has been on the increase in the last few decades, and this increase has caused a lot of concern not only for State governments and organization, but also Federal administration. With increased insecurity and the threat of terrorism in the current world, it has made the immigration issue be of great concern to many. The effects and impacts of illegal immigrants to the natives have also prompted those in authority to address the issue with a lot of concern and caution. This has raised a mixed view between and among those affected. As a result, legislators and lobby groups have come up with policies, rules and regulations that try to address and control the societal problem.
There are many policies that have been formulated over the years with an objective and aim of addressing negative effects that arise due to illegal immigration, especially in the United States (US). Politicians and legislators from both sides of the house have presented different positions and views over policies that touch on illegal immigrants in both lower and upper houses (Haines, 2009). It is observed that existing policies over the years have been amended with time, and again depending on their effectiveness in curbing the immigration problem in the US. One among the many bills and acts that have been presented and passed by the senate touching on immigration is the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act. The bill was passed in late June 2013, and it is an important bill that touched on arrange of issues that arise out of illegal immigration concerns such as security issues, and economic anxiety as well. The Act it is asserted besides touching on security and related issues,...

...f illegal immigrants, underlying societal factors such as poverty, crime; drug use and abuse have to be addressed first, so that the illegal immigration challenges can be addressed fully. Social workers need to counsel illegal immigrants and offer them support that will turn and change their societal behaviors (Hjarnø, 2008).

Illegal immigrants hold over 14 million jobs in the U.S. These jobs should belong to some of the 17 million unemployed Americans. If U.S. citizens would take these jobs unemployment would be at around 2% which is considered full employment. Not only do illegal immigrants take jobs, but they also receive more benefits compared to the taxes they pay. Another negative effect is that many industries pay illegal immigrants a lower wage saving money on the higher wages a native would earn. Even though
United States illegal immigration is not really illegal due to many different factors. Currently in the United States illegal immigrants receive healthcare, social security, unemployment and other forms of benefits provided by the US government “for its people”, which are funded by the citizens of the United States through their tax dollars but illegal immigrants do not pay taxes, they simply collect and piggyback off the rest of us. Not only that though with the increase of illegal immigrants comes an
Illegal immigration has been a source of mounting concern in the United States since the 1970’s. Statistics indicate that the past ten years have witnessed an increase in the number of illegal immigrants with the number estimated to increase in the future. “The percentage of illegal immigrant population from Mexico was 59% (or 6.8 million) as of January 2013. Other countries with large amounts are El Salvador (660,000) Guatemala (52000), Hondorous (380,000) and China (280,000)” (Infoplease 1). The
talent as opposed to the need to control illegal immigration and secure the United States borders. The U.S. has been faced with a period of mass immigration during the last decade. Illegal immigration has become a very severe issue as a result of the view that it hurts the United States citizens. An illegal immigrant is someone who migrates into a country for permanent residence even without any type of identification. Every year, there are many illegal immigrants who enter the U.S. borders illegally
It is my opinion that illegal immigration has become one of the scourges of today’s society in America. According to many sources, such as the Federation for American Immigration Reform, illegal immigration is actually a crime. In my view, anyone who participates in the crime of hoarding an illegal immigrant should be fined or even imprisoned for a year or more, with multiple offenses. Not only do these people overstay their welcome, but they crowd our classrooms and steal our jobs. Unless an individual
go unpunished. A teenager committing petty theft and an immigrant crossing our borders illegally are both crimes in the United States. Billions of dollars and resources are spent each year in an effort to apprehend vagrant aliens who illegally cross our borders into the United States. Illegal immigration is a burden thrust upon the United States yielding
Illegal Immigrants A person that has entered the United States without inspection or legal permission, or through the use of false papers is considered an undocumented immigrant.(The University of Texas of Austin 2013) Since illegal immigrants did not enter the United States through legal pathways they are difficult to track. Where the immigrants are and what they are doing is almost impossible to monitor, increasing the possibilities of terrorism and drug trafficking. In order to solve these problems
whether illegal immigration affects the United States’ economy and its jobs in a positive or negative way. Some feel that undocumented immigration harms the economy and labor force, while others believe that it benefits the U.S. economy. Most people are not satisfied with the current U.S. immigration policies, including the fact that there are more than 11 million undocumented immigrants residing and working in the United States. The United States is a country that was built up from immigrants. Almost
Should illegal immigrants be allowed to stay in the United States? The statue of liberty is one of America’s famous icons. It stands 305 feet above Liberty Island looking at New York’s historic harbor and enshrining the idea of freedom from oppression. The Lady Liberty has been welcoming millions of immigrants seeking a better life in the United States, however illegal immigration is becoming a much larger issue than when she was built in 1886. With over 12 million undocumented immigrants in the
During the presidential election of 2016, President Donald Trump promised to Americans he would deport illegal immigrants, who were stealing American jobs, out of the country as soon as he took the office. Two months after his inauguration, he finally completed the promise to America by hiring more officers for the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to capture and deport illegal immigrants. However, in the article “Is ICE’s Help-Wanted Sign a Welcome Mat for Rogue Applicants, too?” by Ron Nixon

The Pew Hispanic Trust provides analysis to prove that most illegals in the United State are employed in agriculture of all types. The analysis also shows that the largest number of unauthorized immigrant workers are found in most 39 states, especially the District of Columbia where large number of illegal immigrants are involve in agronomy. The large amount of illegals working as farmers
With an increase in legal immigration, there is a possibility that the country’s culture and identity will disappear slowly as more immigrants enter the country. In The Bahamas, many of the immigrants bring along their own culture and language, especially those whose first language is not English. This culture inclusion will eventually lead to the original
article “Immigration Problem Is about Us, Not Them.” All Immigrants, whether they are legal or illegal know that having the chance to live in America, is a dream come true or in other words, “a chance in paradise.” America is known for its opportunities. Immigrants came to the United States for a very significant purpose. Their purpose and goal is to take advantage of the opportunities in the land known as, “the land of opportunity.” Immigrants did not come here to damage the country or to over burden
With the increasing number of undocumented immigrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border illegally, the U.S. border patrol sought new strategies to prevent more illegal crossings. In the early 1990s, Prevention Through Deterrence was a new strategy created by the border patrol in hopes to deter immigrants from crossing the border (Henderson 130). This new strategy started with Operation Blockade and with Operation Gatekeeper following right after. In Timothy Henderson’s Beyond Borders, and Jason De

Illegal immigration is the entry of a person or a group of persons across a country's border, in a way that violates the immigration laws of the destination country, with the intention to stay in the country, as opposed to legal immigration which is someone who has been granted authorization to live and work in the United
