Heterosexual verses Homosexuality is an intense argument that has been on going for generations. Since this controversial subject gets stronger over the years, it is now coming forth that Gay’s actually believe they should have the same treatment as heterosexuals. God declares that this lifestyle is sin, while the Gays declare it is not their fault that they desire the same-sex. This is a subject that has become a dominate debate. Let us reflect on our beginnings and realize that heterosexual’s do not have to fight for their rights in marrying and are the ones that give birth. Gays have been pleading their case for many years; however, God’s word has remained unchanged. Homosexuality is sin in God’s eyes. He did not produce Adam and Steve He created Adam and Eve. One man, one-woman relationships in marriage pleases God.

So the two creation stories contradict each other because one the women are equal and in the other story they are completely separate. Women were slaves, concubines, and child bearers; they were also wives, matriarchs, and prophets. Although, some women had less important titles than others each served a purpose. Even if the Bible does not explain God’s relationship with women as with Moses and other prophets, it illustrates the love and dedication women had for Him. The scriptures describe brave, nurturing, and God fearing women whose decisions impacted the existence of the Israelites.
Homosexual! Deviant! Abomination! Sodomite! Pervert! Vocabulary such as this is used every Sunday in churches across the United States of America. While the majority of believers within a conservative congregation might proudly shout “AMEN!” each time one of these terms is spouted off from behind the pulpit, others cringe as they sink further and further down into their seats. These believers sit quietly and pray that their discomfort isn’t noticeable to others; desperately hoping that the person behind the mask they wear remains undiscovered. For these believers the mask they wear is essential for them to remain a part of a faith community. This scenario is played out in the everyday lives of gay individuals that feel as though they are forced to choose between who they are and what they believe. While some wear a mask and deny their sexuality, others walk away from their faith completely. Each individual that attempts to reconcile their faith with their sexuality has a unique journey, but unfortunately not all have a happy ending.
The most difficult part of any modern theological debate is choosing the authority. With the variety of Christian denominations, individual thinkers, and outside influences, and it is often difficult to reach a general agreement. In her essay, “Homosexuality: A Case Study in Moral Argument,” Catholic theologian Lisa Cahill examines four major authorities and different ways to determine how they work together to produce a cohesive Christian ethic. Though she fails to give a definitive, quantifiable method of describing the interactions between the authorities, her final judgment, approval of some aspects of homosexuality, indicates that she values modern cultural context and general biblical themes over church tradition and specific biblical texts.
"[I]t seems appropriate to understand sexual orientation (heterosexual or homosexual) as a deep-seated dimension of one's personality and to recognize its relative stability in a person. Generally, homosexual orientation is experienced as a given, not as something freely chosen. By itself, therefore, a homosexual orientation cannot be considered sinful, for morality presumes the freedom to choose. The teachings of the Church make it clear that the fundamental human rights of homosexual persons must be defended and that all of us must strive to eliminate any forms of injustice, oppression, or violence against them"(Pastoral).
When the modern person ponders the formation of human beings, our mind automatically goes to Adam and Eve, whom were the first man and woman created by God according to the Book of Genesis. Before there was Adam and Eve, diverse cultures came up with myths about the construction of humans. These myths included: “The Song of Creation” from the Rig Veda, An African Creation Tale, From the Popol Vuh, and A Native American Creation Tale “How Man Was Created” Each one of these legends gives a diverse perspective on the creation of human beings.

Homosexuality as a Sin The topic of homosexuality in religion has many sides. There are those who believe that it is a sin in God’s eyes and according to the Bible, and there are those who believe that the God and the Bible are not specific to homosexuals. It is a tough debate based on whether you are a religious person, how you were raised, and where your morals and ethics stand. You cannot truly believe one way without taking into account the other side and having valid proof to back it up. Those who believe that homosexuality is wrong do so by quoting certain phrases from the Bible.
Homosexuality has been a controversial topic amongst society for much longer than just recently. Apart from the scientific arguments revolving around it, there are other social and religious arguments similarly. Certain countries, religions, and organizations loath homosexuals, denying certain privileges to those suspected of being one. For instance, as one of the world’s most common religions, Catholicism has averted from homosexuality since the proposed writing of The Bible. Undoubtedly one of the most contentious verses from the Catholic bible, Leviticus 20:13, promptly states "If a man practices homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman, both men have committed a detestable act. They must both be put to death, for they are guilty of a capital offense" (Leviticus 20). This excerpt from the Old Testament defines homosexuality as a criminal offense that is punishable by death; it is thought to be written during the time period 538–332 BCE, nearly three-thousand years ago. Fundamentalist Catholics have used this bible verse for an extended period of time to justify their resentful outlook towards homosexuality. Marriage is the most powerful way for couples to show their love. However, it will be unfair for someone to try and negate the rights of married couples. Therefore, all types of marriages including gay marriages should be legalized since couples deserve equal rights and freedom. Opponents of gay marriage point out that it is against God’s laws, but they forget that the same Bible also promotes equality regardless of gender, race and religion. Moreover, if marriage is all about love, then those in love and committed to one another should be allowed to the freedom to marry regardless of their gender and age. Studies have revealed that heterosexual marriages are failing at a very at the very alarming rate. Based on this knowledge, gay marriages must, therefore, be legalized.
