Recommended: Technology that was invented in the American civil war

During the 1800s in the USA there were quite a bit of military advancements in the means of weapons and transportation. Starting with the weapons way back in the early United States from about 1786-1833 they had the Musket Model 1795 as their main weapon; which they go so figure used during the War of 1812 and also the Lewis and Clark expeditions. About 80,000 of these guns were built during the time they were in use. The Musket Model 1795 also had an effective range of about 50-200 yards and was better than the British equivalent the Brown Bess which had a range of 50-100 yard.
Eventually the U.S then began to produce more new weapons in 1833-50 as they created a U.S Model 1842 Musket. This was the first US made weapon with swappable parts at both Harpers Ferry and Springfield Armory. About 275,000 of these muskets were made during this time frame.
Another piece of weaponry that the U.S had made their own version of was the cannons. The cannon was first used in 1861 at Fort Sumter in the U.S Civil War. These were a major upgrade in weaponry as it could help take out big crowds of men and helped so men wouldn’t have to be on the front lines and risk getting killed. Also battles seemed to get quicker because of its strength, but it had some downsides too. These downsides including very bad injuries to the men, also more men would be killed in battles, and finally a lot of cities were destroyed because of it.
Now on the side of military transportation there were still no transport trucks or helicopters but what the military did use for their transportation was trains which were invented in1822 by George Stephenson.     1.The dropping of the bomb on Hiroshima was necessary to end the war with the least number of total casualties and in the fastest possible way. The figures regarding the exact number of American lives that would’ve been lost has been highly debated, but considering the great resolve that the Japanese army had, they would almost surely have been more than those killed in Nagasaki, and that is just on the American side. I do not value American lives more than the lives of the innocent, many of whom were victims to the attack, but it is important to remember that regardless of whether we had dropped the bomb or not, we were fighting total war. In the many battles that would’ve occurred if the war had continued, women and children may have still been victims as we advanced our troops. These battles could’ve taken as long as another year, and who can say when the Japanese would’ve finally surrendered? They were filled with pride and resilience, and many soldiers would’ve prefered to die with honor, defending their homeland, than to surrender.

To finish, Vietnam was an even greater disappointment to our nation. The riots and movements of the day regarding communism which was the enemy, and the open hate towards the soldiers from the media seriously hurt the war and the nations view of it. NOt to mention Nixon's feeding of the welfare beast and EPA.
