The Importance of the Ferrari Company

By the 1920s, the world had already begun mass manufacturing automobiles for both the general public and private racing. However, there were only several different automobile companies present at the time, with only two in Italy. It wasn’t until the later 1920s, where Ferrari, a well-known sports car company today, joined the ranks of Fiat and Alfa Romeo. With the birth of Ferrari at a pivotal time in history, Enzo Ferrari was able to an extremely successful automobile company that is still being manufactured today.

If it were not for Enzo Ferrari, the company would have never come about. Enzo Anselmo Ferrari was born to a family of metalworkers on the outskirts of Modena in February of 1898. When World War One came about, both his father and brother were drafted, but were quickly killed by influenza in 1916. One year later Enzo himself was drafted into the Italian military and assigned to the Third Alpine Artillery Division. A few months later, he was honorably discharged from the Military due to a serious illness. Not wanting to return to school, he begins his journey with motor racing companies. (Ferrari)

After regaining his health, Enzo begins test-driving and eventually racing motorcars. In 1918, he manages to find work as a test-driver for a company in Turin that built the very popular Torpedo style car. After a year of work as a test-driver, Enzo moved to Milan, where he worked with C.M.N. (Costruzioni Meccaniche Nazionali) first as a test-driver, then as racing driver. For the next two years, Enzo found himself winning several different racing tournaments, while attracting the attention of the Alfa Romeo racing company. ...cing division vehicles. The models vary in specs, ranging from eight cylinder engines to twelve cylinder engines, with almost all of the same electronic and interior design. One example of this is the Ferrari 458 Italia, which is one of the most technologically and architecturally advanced vehicles today. Clearly with the vast past of Ferrari, the company was able to succeed both as a racing and streetcar manufacturing company, which will forever be iconic in the world. (Ferrari)

From here it is shown that, Ferrari, a well-known company that produces motor vehicles for generally the upper class, had a very intriguing history before it became well known. Ferrari foundation began in the 1920s when Enzo Ferrari created the first Ferrari racing team “Scuderia Ferrari”. Since then, Ferrari’s image has grown immensely, which is seen and loved by people in all countries.
