In today’s workplace teamwork is an essential part of success. We have more and more business that are incorporating teamwork in some type of way. They are effectively implementing ways on how to create effective teams, teamwork and team building. They are also creating a work culture that values collaboration. Teamwork, is about people working together and working towards reaching their common goal. In order for teamwork to be successful in the workplace it involves building a relationship and working with other people. Some ways in implementing effective teamwork is by giving the power to make decisions. Giving the team the power to make decisions is a great motivation for effective teamwork and to bring about radical change (p.2). Share clearly defined team objectives: when a team shares and gets feedback from one another their performance and overall effectiveness improves (p.3). Promote efficient team meetings: by having team meetings and using status reports makes a more productive meeting. The status reports helps with the meeting because the report is going to state what already has happened and what needs to be done (p.3). Make individual progress visible to the whole team: In order for the team to make effective progress in the workplace they need to make each individual team member work available to be seen (p.3). Make it fun by melting the ice: Working in a team should be fun and inspiring, not an obligation. A great strategy is having fun and humor that promotes effective teamwork in the workplace. It causes them to think, plan and make decisions according to the team. In the past teamwork culture has taken a backseat. However with changing times, organizations understood the importance of nurturing and promoting the culture of teamwork (p.1). In order to promote teamwork, management leaders need to clearly communicate to everyone that the expectation of exceptional work is not just an individual level but at a team level and collaboration is expected out of every team (p.2). Teams that are demonstrating teamwork should be recognized. According to Conway (n.d) “ set expectations that bonuses, rewards, or compensation will vary depending on the collaborative practices adopted and followed by each team along with the individual achievements and contribution as a team member (p.2). Management should also share the outstanding achievements with other teams and organizations, so that people feel encouraged to participate and nature the team work culture
