The Importance of Education and Teaching

“I do not want to go to school today!” “I hate my teacher, and she hates us!” “She's boring and we do not even learn anything!” “Ugh, why do I even have to go?” At one point or another in our lives, we have all been in this situation. Whether it was watching a friend or sibling throw the tantrum, or if it was you yourself, we have heard the excuses above plenty of times. Ironically, these are not always excuses used in hoped of enjoying a day off from school, as sadly, these “boring” and “hateful” teachers do exist. But what causes teachers to act this way and treat their students in a way that they feel under-appreciated or as if they are a nuisance? Many teachers go to work everyday to do just that, work. They feel no sense of duty to themselves, what they are teaching, or even to their students, causing them to teach every day, just to get a paycheck. And no one wants to be that teacher. Instead, there are those other teachers, those that seem happy to be at work, form personal connections with each and every one of their students, and whose overall presence makes everyone around them feel joyful and eager to learn. By exploring my own reasons for wanting to be an educator, examining the roles of various parts of the school and describing my personal teaching philosophy to be used in my own classroom, I can insure that I will become the better breed of teachers, and not the breed that causes students to lose their love and passion for learning.

...o that. As I continue on my journey of becoming an educator, I feel that I will find a balance of the different philosophies that not only works for me, but also allows my students to flourish.
After examining various philosophies of education, different roles of all individuals in the education process and deeply reflecting on my personal reasons for wanting to become an educator, I have seen the type of teacher I hope to one day become. Through hard work, extensive planning and time, I know that I can become an educator that not only meets the standards expected of them by others, but that can live up to my own personal expectations. As I continue on my journey to become an educator, I will continue to grow and learn more information that will help me once I have a classroom of my own, and I will become the better breed of teachers that electrifies and inspires.
