1.1 Analyse the benefits of outdoor play on children’s health, learning and development.
Many children enjoy outdoor play, all aspects of development and learning are related in play. When children have ample time to play, their style of play will grow in how complex and also socially demanding it will become, for example as children maybe grow older they will choose who they will want in their friendship groups to play with them. Exluding children can bring serious risks to a childs social and emotional well being. Children who feel rejected can become agressive in response to these situations. Therefore it is important to meet all childrens need for example if a child is in a wheelchair, making sure their is a ramp available to garden where the child can experience outdoor play using tailored activities and free play to meet development needs. Adults are crucial in choosing appropriate materials for child and to encourage and support child with praise. Its also very important for adults to provide safe environments for children to learn and play.
1.4 Explain why children need to experiment, explore and take risk through outdoor play
Taking risks are completly essential and a healthy part of a childs play. Risk taking usually entails mastering new tasks or conquering a fear. In play children seek out risks because through these children will learn to develop their self esteem and confidence. It also gives the child a sense of independence. The point to remember is to balance risks with what could potentially be the benefits and to understand what types of risks are acceptable.

Allowing children to make their own choices and joining in with them but on their terms not over taking them or directing them, to be able to follow their lead. Sources of information to support the development of outdoor play can also come from different work experiences, other colleagues, knowledge from courses, mentors, reading books and various theories. It can also come from parents/carers, and also knowledge you may have about individual childen, different cultures/religions
