Eating breakfast is supposed to prepare you for the day and promote better choices when it comes to choosing what to eat for the rest of the day. For some people eating breakfast isn’t a choice when it comes to weak stomachs not being able to handle the earliness of the meal, but what are the true benefits of eating breakfast? Studies show that breakfast is healthy for you, but making the healthy choices that make breakfast is what really proves its importance. Students are definitely affected if they don’t eat breakfast. “One major physical benefit of breakfast that can help school performance is the increase in energy that comes from a morning dose of carbs and protein. Energy provided by breakfast carbs allows children to fully participate in physical activity at school, including physical education, or P.E. classes; recess; and extracurricular activities. Kids who eat breakfast are typically in better health overall as well. They are less prone to obesity and illness, leading to fewer sick days, which can cause kids to fall behind in schoolwork.”

Breakfast helps to provide everyone with essentials that they either don’t have access to later in the day or time for. Older people eat a lot of fiber and usually get that in the forms of breakfast bars and cereals in the morning. Without at least something to eat in the morning we feel sluggish and unprepared. Breakfast and eating in general produces endorphins. The relationship between hunger and the ability to learn are very closely related. Of the many benefits to a school breakfast program, one includes the assurance that the children are eating a balanced meal during the school day. According to ABC News, Kyle Craig, “a musician, athlete and high-achieving student at Vanderbilt University, was the only one who saw the train coming.” In just one year, Kyle “lost his social confidence and became increasingly paranoid in an almost imperceptible downward spiral that deceived nearly everyone.” Then he stepped in front of a train to end his life at the age of 21. Kyle had become addicted to Adderall -- a drug legally prescribed for attention deficit disorder (ADHD), which helped him “stay up all night to study and perform the next day. By Friday, exhausted but eager to party, he would take more, mixing it with alcohol.”
Teenagers should not skip breakfast. If teens are planning in losing weight, they should focus more on increasing their vigorous level for physical activities. Skipping breakfast will not help lose weight because the person will be starved by the time they eat lunch and might binge eat leading to gaining all the calories they supposedly lost skipping breakfast. Skipping breakfast also leads to a more sluggish start to a person’s day and they will feel more tired with less energy to perform tasks than a person who eats breakfast. If a teenager is late for school, he/she should grab a quick snack or at least something to eat rather than nothing.
You may not realize this, but healthy lunches are a vital component to your everyday life. One reason for a healthy lunch is that it improves academic performance. Lunches, especially in school, should be healthy to boost your brain. According to Scholastic, “Glucose is the fuel that keeps the brain working.” Of course, this means natural glucose, not added, because healthy foods contain naturally occurring sugars or carbohydrates, according to Oregon State University.
First, the less time kids have to eat, the less likely they put fruit on their cafeteria trays. With having more time to eat research has proven that more kids pick out a fruit cup rather than only eating the main course. Kids that have more time to eat tend to eat more and tend to have more energy for the rest of the day. You know that feeling when you're tired and you do not know why?

Some students are in a rush or have things to do before school so they don't get to eat breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and plus, it is harder to learn on an empty stomach. With vending machines, students can stop by it real quick in between classes and it will hold them off until they next time the student eats. Kids have smaller stomach than adults and can't necessarily eat enough to stay full in a general sitting. Statistically, at least 2 snacks a day added to your 3 meals around the high school age is healthier than starving yourself, then only eating about 1 or 2 meals a

I believe in breakfast. It is always said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day because of its ability to get the body's metabolism going and start the day off right. But what about the first thing that runs through a person's mind? Of course, having a healthy body is important, but wouldn’t a healthy mind be even more desirable? With a good nutrition, students are able to learn easier, they have fewer absences, and students’ behavior improves, thus causing fewer disruptions in the classroom. Every student has the potential to do well in school. Failing to provide good nutrition puts them at risk for missing out on meeting that potential. Taking action can provide healthier choices in school and life and can set students up for success in the future.
This brings me to my first point, which is the student’s activity level or if the student is an early bird or night owl (Plotnik & Kouyoumdjian, 2013). Everyone knows most people have a difficulty to wake themselves up in the morning, even with the help of an alarm clock. I myself have formed the habit to set multiple alarms as I have a tendency to hit the snooze button and ends up waking up later than I should. For students who chose morning classes, it would help you a long mile if you are a morning person and are able to focus perfectly in the morning (Taylor, 2012). While morning classes have a great setback that often causes students to miss their breakfast, this does not seem to be a big problem nowadays because of the existence of protein bars and other light foods created for easy eating specifically for these cases.
