There are many ways to interpret the meaning of being part of a team. I’ve been part of a soccer team, I’ve been a cheerleader, and I’ve been in groups for schoolwork. When it comes to being a team member of a business I have not. Being on a team requires listening skills as well as proper communication. They can be a great way to achieve a common goal quicker than it would be to do something on your own.
Being a leader requires you to take charge. I myself, am not a leader. I have great listening skills and can listen to what is being said, but have a hard time to really take charge. I’m more laid back, but am slowly breaking out of my shell and feel I could be a great leader when needed. I feel that anybody can be a leader when they set their mind to it. My main goal is to ultimately one day own my own business. I feel that I could responsibly obtain the role of being a leader and making the best choices for my business. Considering I have never been a leader, it’s hard to say what I have learned.
There are many possible management skills that a person can obtain but there is many that I have yet to obtain. Management skills can vary from decision making skills, to problem solving skills, to even just planning. Some examples of management skills that I have developed are time management, planning, listening, responsibility, and I can be a team player. I’m able to manage my time and ensure that tasks are completed in a timely manner. I can plan my schedule to ensure that the most important tasks are always completed first and on time. I have great listening skills and can listen to everybody’s point of view before I feel the need to interject my own. I’m very responsible, and I can also be a part of a team effectively without...

...d. Although it is possible to be efficient but not effective and vice versa, it’s better for the business to have both to achieve the desired results. Regardless of whether you’re running a small business, or a huge business, total quality management is always the best approach. It focuses on continuous improvements, which makes for a more successful business. It also focuses on getting employees involved and get feedback from their customers. Total Quality Management uses feedback from their customers to know what they may need to change, or what they should sell more of. It also focuses on eliminating problems. This is definitely the approach I would want to use when I reach my goal of having my own business. This class is going to continue to help me learn everything I need to know about management and will hopefully one day help me tremendously with my business.
