Essay About Accomplishment

Over this past year, there was a single utmost outstanding accomplishment that has given me a constant source of pride and achievement above all else. During the summer prior to my senior year, I took part in Miami Dade’s paid internship program. During the school year, my Information Technology teacher personally told me about the internship program and emphasized that I attend the presentation taking place. After attending the presentation, I became interested but uncertain what to expect from this internship experience. Prior to this, I had never worked in a corporate IT environment. Despite that, I realized this experience would ultimately benefit me more than anything I have ever accomplished.

Ray had an intern and I work as a team to design and develop a program that would allow new clients to submit information on a web-based form. This program would then utilize an API to automatically create a domain based on the data submitted. This programming project proved itself as a difficult, yet prideful challenge. The first challenge was learning two different programming languages which I never learned before; PHP and HTML. Learning these languages presented itself to only be the minuscule stump in the road piled with boulders. My teammate and I diligently spent several weeks in a ceaseless cycle of programming then troubleshooting what we had programmed. Developing this program proved to be the most valuable part of the internship because I learned a significant amount of information about programming, the detailed process of troubleshooting code, and utilizing web servers.
