A licensed nursing home administrator is qualified to be the successful administrator of a hospital and any health care organization in the long-term care continuum: life care communities, home health agencies, hospice, assisted living and senior living centers. With the baby boomer generation aging and retiring, leaving voids in the job field along with health care having to satisfy a larger elderly population. Health nursing home administrator is an individual educated and trained within the field of nursing home administration who carries out the policies of the licensee of a nursing home and is licensed in accordance the state (“Nursing home administrator program,2016). The nursing home administrator deals with the general administration and daily functions of a nursing home.
Nursing home administrator can come about the job in many different ways. If you have formal academic training, you need a master 's degree in a program such as nursing home administration or similar health administration field including an internship of 480 hours. Alternatively, you can also attain a baccalaureate degree with 1,000 of Advanced Individual Training. You have to make sure to maintain 40 hours of continuing education every 2 years to sustain your nursing home administrator 's license. Courses you can take for your degree are those that directly relate to the duties and functions of a nursing home administrator as well as courses in aging or patient care including courses in gerontology, aging, or nursing care may be approved for full credit. Many courses offered by colleges to business administration receive full continuing education credit according to the California department of public health website.
