I agree with implementing a service learning requirement for all RCBC students to graduate is a positive change. Service learning is a teaching and learning that is a meaningful community service in which an individual learns to get involve in meaningful services by working on projects that will make a difference. There are several kinds of service learning activities which one is suited best is depends on the individual. The goals of service learning are enhanced social and academic leaning, develop character, citizenship skills, and learn about issues. Such characters are essential for the graduating student. It is valuable work that impact the student and the community. In my opinion a mandated service learning requirement for RCBC students is a positive change because it is gives to the community, develops character of students, and teaches the student practical skills.
The service learning is useful for the students to be involve in meaningful community work. One kind of learning is direct service learning in which the students’ service directly impacts individuals who receive the service form the student. It involves things such as tutoring other students and adults, helping other students resolve conflicts, giving performance on violence and drug prevention and creating life reviews for Hospice patients. According to Dave Eggers: “colleges are best-poised to create in their students a lifelong commitment to volunteering even a few hours a month.” For example, conducting a weekly computer leaning class in the community center will help many elderly people. By doing that a student is helping many people. Another thing a student might consider is volunteer in a tutoring elementary school students. Tutoring the after school...

The service learning activities are designed in a way that not only help the person in need but have a lasting impact on the person providing the service. It provides a chance in life for the graduating student to find their niche. Thus it is highly satisfactory for the student when they graduate; they would know what to expect from the future. Moreover, knowing their identity and discovering their newly find skills in activities such as training the community and doing disaster preparation will help them find their skills such as talking, and dealing with public. By doing these activates the participating student may chose a career dealing with public issues but before they never tested themselves in such areas. It also gives student a satisfaction that they get from serving their community.
