It has only been a few years since the world’s population surpassed seven billion people. The demand for power production has also grown, with fossil fuels such as coal, natural gas, and oil being the primary sources for the production of energy. The burning fossil fuels are the primary source of carbon dioxide. As a result, climate change has proven to be a very important issue in today’s ever-changing society. There have also been numerous advances in the study of climate change. Ever since it was suggested that carbon dioxide could affect climate change, research has proven that fossil fuel consumption is the biggest human contributor to carbon dioxide emissions into the Earth’s atmosphere.

The wealthy and industrial companies were very influential while the Industrial Revolution was taking place, as businesses of automation soared. The production of fossil fuels also gave a lot of influence to the companies that were responsible for producing fossil fuels. Governments around the world were very authoritarian, as evidenced by France being ruled by a monarchy in the early 1800’s. Despite the amount of respect Fourier and Arrhenius had from commanded from their peers due to their research, they did not possess what one would call influential power. Fourier lived in a time that was ruled by Napoleon Bonaparte. Although Fourier was respected by Napoleon, it would be easy to assume that Fourier’s work could be suppressed if Napoleon so decided. I believe these scientists were well respected during these times and had some influence. Although there is much argument over the implications of increasing carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere, there are several points that almost all scientists would agree on: firstly, carbon dioxide acts to absorb radiated heat; if present in our atmosphere will do just that to some extent. Second, the concentration of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere is rising. Third, the temperature of the planet is rising - although the amount of this increase and the causes of this rise are subject to disagreement (Philander, pp 193).

Global warming is one of the main concerns that scientists have been researching for the past century. Scientific evidence shows that global warming is caused by human behaviors. Due to the amount of human-induced carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases that have been released into the air, the earth is becoming a highly poisonous place to live on. Earth’s climate has been constantly changing ever since the Industrial Revolution, when innovations began and factories were built, which emitted mass air pollution. As more technological advances continued the years after, the amount of carbon dioxide in the air also increased. Climate Change is unique among international issues because of its global scale and impact, and the cooperative nature of the plausible solutions. If we are to build a sustainable environment for our species we must act as one world, as opposed to a loose collection of nation-states acting for our own self interest. Our political systems are not designed to meet such ends, so climate change holds an interesting position on the stage of international diplomacy.
In conclusion, the Industrial Revolution had profoundly impacted Europe in the 18th century. The Industrial Revolution also had considerable impact upon the nature of work, people, geography, and technology. It significantly changed the daily lives of ordinary men, women, and children. All of these factors came together in the late 18th century to create the unique conditions in England that culminated in the first-ever Industrial Revolution.
