Chapter 1: Project Background
1.1 Overview
Since 2007, iPhone has impact the market with the trend of mobile application (App) by Apple Apps Store, and followed by Google Play Store, Window Phone Store and Blackberry App World one year later. The trend indeed brings along many opportunities for application developer and games developer into the application world, but the trend of enterprise resource planning (ERP) application has begun to join the market. SAP is one of the leading companies that provides ERP software since 1973, by having an SAP’s division for SAP Mobile Technologies, Sybase, an SAP company, had introduce Sybase Unwired Platform (SUP) in 2010. By 2013, SAP had launch SAP Mobile Platform 3.0 (SMP 3.0) to SAP industry to develop mobile application which integrates with the back-end SAP system. A warehouse management system is a system which uses to manage goods and stocks for logistics companies. Although Information Technology (IT) had been evolve so fast, but now rarely that mobile applications develop for logistics business solution has been seen in the market.
1.2 Problem Statement and Motivation
It is hard for a mobile application developer to develop a good logistics mobile application due to lack of understanding the whole logistics business. Learning the back-end SAP system for mobile application developers is also a big challenge because SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems are different from others ERP systems, such as Oracle ERP system, IBM ERP system and Microsoft ERP system. However, mobile application for SAP systems is still a new technology in the industry. Nevertheless, developers need to understand the complex warehouse structure before they can approach developing the mobile a...

Mobile computing, whether it is the ubiquitous laptop, smart phone or tablet, has become a necessary part of our lives for both work and play. The hardware and software that provides us with the ability to send, receive and process data while on the go is constantly evolving. The companies that develop the hardware and operating systems that enable us to un-tether ourselves from our desks are constantly pouring billions of dollars into research and development to further enhance the hardware and software used for mobile computing. I intend to provide an overview of the major types of mobile devices that we currently use as well as two of the most important aspects of mobile computing, the operating system and programming tools. Operating systems and development tools, the major factors of innovation, will be discussed in depth as well as the hardware platforms they run on. I will then provide a brief history of mobile computing and how we got to where...
The organization’s goal is to improve 10% of productivity. To achieve its goal the organization has implemented a custom-built warehouse management system (WMS), which has had an enormous impact on productivity. But in order to ensure that the system effectively supports warehouse operations, Tony has analyze the systems by checking were to be delivered by this system, rate of the system being out of order and impacting on the packing of orders, the duration to train new staff members to use the system, and the how do customer’s orders process sufficiently assisted. Tony has also documented the process form order receipt to dispatch) to assist with his analysis, and to help him to understand the exact process followed in packing an order. He has completed SOWT analysis and reviewed on staffs’ performances, KRAs and KPIS to measure and analyze the process of organization.
Inventory management software is, usually, tailored to the inventory functions needed by the organization (Saxena, 2009). Typical inventory management systems used include Vendor-Managed Inventory (VMI), Warehouse Management System (WMS), and Inventory Control Systems (ICS) (Bidgoli, 2010). Common features provided in the mentioned applications are: (a) order management that determines and automatically handles stock replenishments based on determined threshold; (b) asset tracking that allows tracking of materials via barcode or serial number once it is stored in a warehouse or storage facility; (c) service management that enables analysis of production phases and activities in terms of cost, time consumed, workforce needed, and other criteria; and (d) product identification that is enabled through barcode reading or radio-frequency identification (RFID) tags (Lang, 2009; Bidgoli, 2010). Organizations require the maintenance of their inventories to serve its unique function in the production chain. Inventories can be classified according to its functions, which in turn directs how these materials should be managed (Saxena,
It gives a gist of problems faced by the company which is the growing retail business, and the demand to have updated information of the inventory. This was possible with the new technology implemented by the company which is SAP to solve the CRM problem.

Have you ever known that along with keys and money, the smartphone is one of three survival items most people carry with them? Due to the innovation of modern technology, the smartphone invention is evolving and changing human life rapidly these days. Clearly, according to Kadlec, “half of American adults own a smart phone and that the rate of ownership is expanding quickly”. This research shows that how many people are becoming accustomed to using this modern device. It is invented to support the needs of people that they want their mobile devices to have more Internet capabilities. In fact, smartphones are mobile handsets with data connections via cellular and wireless networks (Fuegen 49). BMI presented the first concept of the smartphone
A Smartphone app is a software application designed to run on wireless computing devices such as smart phones and tablets. The mobile applications are optimal for the people who use any particular service frequently, such as cab booking and mobile recharge.
Smartphones are used for carrying out various tasks like checking email, downloading and installing mobile apps, paying utility bills and performing online financial transactions. In the era of digitalization it is essential to use Smartphone for performing online transactions. The number of Smartphone users worldwide is projected to amount to nearly 2.7 billion by 2019. It is expected that, by 2017, almost a third of the total global population will use a Smartphone (Statista, n.d.). India, the second most populous country in the world, is projected to pass the United States in number of Smartphone users in 2017. Around 223 million people in the U.S. will use a Smartphone by 2017, compared to 340 million in India. In this paper the terms
If we pay attention to our surroundings, we can see smartphone everywhere. On office, school, home, whatever people are doing smartphone always there in their hand. In this 21th century, it is really hard for people to live without smartphone. A surprising fact is how fast the growth of smartphone user. Heggestuen (2013) said that their research shows surprising number of growths, one of them is by the end of 2013, global smartphone penetration will have exploded from 5% of the global population in 2009, to 22%. That's an increase of nearly 1.3 billion smartphones in four years. Smartphone is a cellular telephone with built-in applications and Internet access. In addition to digital voice service, modern smartphones provide text messaging, e-mail, Web browsing, still and video cameras, MP3 player and video playback and calling. In addition to their built-in functions, smartphones run myriad free and paid applications, turning the once single-minded cell phone into a mobile personal computer (pcmag, 2014). By that definition. We can see how convenient a smartphone can be. However few studies suggest that smartphone has more drawbacks than benefit.
