Globalization is the increasing unification of regional economies, societies, and cultures through communication, transportation and trade. It is mainly driven by a combination of economic, technological, social-cultural, biological and political factors. It can also be referred to as the transitional circulation of ideas, languages, or popular cultures through acculturation.
Researchers have argued that globalization started as early as the start of trade links between Sumer and the Indus valley civilization in the third millennium. But the biggest impact was felt in the 1990s due to the growth of low cost communication networks which allowed people in different parts of the world to integrate through communication. In the recent past globalization has been improved even more by the fine communication through the internet and the advancement of technology. This has made the world become like a small village because people in far away countries can get together easily (Valley Silicon, 2010).
The most affected group of people by globalization is the youth from all corners of the world. This is mainly because the young people who are aged between 18 to 24 years are the most active internet users. Consequently they get to interact and relate to people who are all over the world. This makes them feel connected to the world and with more power. Amongst the youths affected by globalization are the young people from Saudi Arabia.

Globalization is the phenomena of increased economic integration among nations characterized by the movement of people, ideas, culture, and resources across borders. This phenomena dates back to the trade routes developed by the Silk Road, as well as those that were discovered by European explorers such as Columbus, Magellan, and Marco Polo. Globalization has been crucial for the development of both individual countries as well as the world as a whole. The conquests and subsequent settlement of new lands with new biological resources, the potential to accommodate transfers of population, crops, and livestock, international trade, as well as technological innovations are all key elements of globalization.
Learning about how a culture that is new to someone functions and was began is what I think class is about. International Communication wants us to see cultures and learn how they work not only by themselves but also in relations to the United States. “In the face of Westernization, Saudi Arabia remains committed to traditional values.” While this chapter of the book helped the further education of the country Saudi Arabia, it also showed how it is struggling to keep traditions strong in the face of an overpowering influence from the west.
The term 'globalization' has been subjected to a variety of interpretations. Though at its simplest it can be seen as how the world has become integrated economically, politcally, socially and culturally through the advances of technology, communication and transport John Baylis et al. (2011).
...n the Saudi market, on the other hand, protect those, who already settled in this country and does not want the presence of competitors in their field. In this regard, the government is doing everything possible to protect the Saudi economy from the influx of foreign companies. Despite the strong statements of the government on the promotion of foreign companies in the Kingdom, it is just trying to attract more investments for their own needs .
Currently, the government of Saudi Arabia controls the economy by limiting foreign investors and regulating business within its borders. Oil accounts for the majority of the country's income, accounting for 90 percent of export revenue and 80 percent overall (“Saudi Arabia,” n.d.). Prices over $105 per barrel is required for the budget to remain balanced. The current drop in oil prices places a strain on the Saudi Arabian economy; expansion into the bond market somewhat eases this strain (“Saudi Arabia,” n.d.). A McKinsey Global Institute report states that Saudi Arabia can double its GDP and create millions of jobs by changing its economy from a government centric style to “a more market-based approach” (Al-Kibsi et al., 2015). "Despite cuts and financial challenges, ongoing internal and external concerns are driving an increase in defense spending” (Hedges, as quoted by Mustafa, 2015). The last half decade has seen the defense budget of Saudi Arabia growing at a rate of 19 percent a year (Mustafa, 2015). This shows that the military, despite the economic downturn, continues to play an important role in the Saudi Arabian

...Arabia is a petrostate. Oil dominates the national economy, international exports, and the nation’s politics. It has greatly shaped what the kingdom is today. Having started out as somewhat of a tourist economy, the kingdom has become a world, monetary power. From their massive amounts of oil and extremely cheap production, the country has been able to gain large amounts of affluence and political power. With its large abundance of oil, the country has been able to profit immensely on sales and spur diplomatic outcomes to their benefit due to the great need of the resource. Without the discovery oil, Saudi Arabia would be of little importance in the modern world, having the Grand Mosque be the extent of its importance. But because of its discovery of oil, Saudi Arabia became of international importance, coming to be one of the greatest assets to world superpowers.
Globalization is defined as “the historical process involving a fundamental shift or transformation in the spatial scale of human social organization that links distant communities and expands the reach of power relations across regions and continents (Baylis, 2014).”
Globalization on a broader scale, is an integration act, involving cultural, mental, political as well as economic aspects of a person, among countries. It is mostly limited to, economic integration, associated with movement of people, exchange of technology and information, trade as well as financial flows. . This is practice is clearly miles ahead, as demonstrated by the ever increasing capital flows in the world economy as well as the level of importance, the world economy has. As a result of globalization, tremendous pressure is on the nations to keep up with its demands and this has had a lot of consequences. So it is very important for every culture or ethnic group to adjust. In my views globalization is very beneficial as long as it is not harming the main culture activities.
Globalization’s history is extremely diversified and began during the beginning of civilization. Now we live in a world that is constantly evolving, demanding people to use resources in locations that are very difficult to obtain certain resources. This could make it completely impossible to operate in these specific parts of the world. However, globalization allows people across the world to acquire much needed resources. Globalization creates the opportunity for businesses to take advantage and exploit the ability to take part of their business to a different country. Nevertheless, globalization is part of today’s society and will be involved in virtually all situations.
