This essay will discuss two important study skills such as time management and motivation skills. It will then further explain ways to adopt these skills and how to implement them in order to be successful in studies. This essay will also address procrastination and stress management as two challenges, and explain ways to overcome these issues. The key to acquiring good time management skills is setting our priorities in order such as the importance of studying your first priority. An example of this skill is taking time out of our busy scheduled life as students to spend time on reviewing assignments, and thoroughly reading through and understanding the study material. It is imperative to structure your time efficiently in order to be a successful learner. The first method that can be used to find out how your using your time is drawing up a time management wheel, writing down how you use your time in a twenty four hour day, then drawing up another wheel of how you would like to use your time, compare the two and keep the time management wheel you want to follow in a ring binder, diary or folder. “Remember, a new habit takes twenty one days of repetitiion to form” (Lengefeld, 2009.pp 21), so follow the wheel chart and see if it works. The second Method is writing down assignment due dates on a calendar, dairy or cell phone wherever it stays as constant reminders for important deadlines, this is an effective way to keep on top of assignments so that you can learn to prioritize your tasks within your day effectively. Motivation can definitely fluctuate during student life. Staying motivated is the first and most crucial study skill students can develop during the gruelling periods of assignment deadlines. Who would have ever thought taking a college course would require one to learn how to learn? It is a good concept we normally undergo at a very young age. At the pre-school age one will find children learning their strength and weakness through their playtime. As adults we almost forget we have to learn how to learn to continue growth in our workplace, school, and in life. In our second week of online classes I learned strengths and weakness in my learning style with the aid of learning assessments, personality spectrums, and time management logs. In this paper, I intend to describe the various components of my learning style and outline a plan to improve my time management and study skills.
Exercising and eating healthy foods can benefit people physically, mentally, and emotionally. Regular participation in physical activities has been associated with a longer and better quality of life, reduced risks of a variety of diseases and many psychological and emotional benefits (Dhuruo, 2012). Physical activity is a useful mechanism in the prevention of sedentary behavior, overweight, obesity and it plays a key role in health promotion (Dhuruo, 2012). Exercising and changing life styles can help with stress and other health problems. Dhuruo (2012) found that physical activity participation diverts one's mind from stress, provides one with a positive outlook of life and impacts positively on work-related stress. This literature review looks at the benefits of exercising and how it decreases stress.

From this chapter I have learned a lot about myself and how to study. Before I never really understood the different ways I studied, I just knew what seemed to work. I now understand why those techniques were successful. Now that I am aware I am a mostly a visual learner, have an integrated brain, and have bodily-kinesthetic and logical-mathematical intelligence, I look forward to implementing the newly learned studying techniques with the old, making my college experience as successful as possible.
To sum up everything stated above, it is necessary to mention that there are three effective tools that help to manage time for students: correct planning, stress management, and evaluation of time management. It is really vital for each student to know how to use their time wisely in order to improve their performance, reduce stress, as well as increase self-awareness.
Nowadays there are many people who are going back to study, whether it be improving career possibilities or to change career paths. Therefore, people need to develop different types of study skills to help throughout their learning. In this essay I will be describing a few study skills that could be useful in the path to success during my own studies. I will also be explaining how I will be implementing them into my studies. Also, I will be identify two challenges that I may face during my studies and explaining a few steps that I will use to address them.
An important question to address when attempting to identify effective study strategies and their relationship with academic performance is, “What are study skills?” The term “study skills” can be defined as proficiency in identifying, organizing, memorizing, and using information in order to succeed academically (Proctor, Prevatt, Adams, Hurst, & Petscher, 2006). Activities identified as study skills include “time management, setting appropriate goals, selecting an appropriate study environment, employing appropriate note-taking strategies, concentrating, selecting main ideas, self-testing, organization, and managing anxiety,” (Proctor et al., 2006). When studying, college students employ a variety of these study strategies that they believe

Imagine any average day. You wake up, especially tired because you haven’t been sleeping well all week, perhaps grab your daily cup of coffee, head off to work in the middle of rush-hour, try to complete several projects that are due by the end of the week, and so on. Then again, in between each of those minor events you experience varying levels of stress and anxiety. Nonetheless, you are in company because according to the National Health Interview Survey, 75% of the American population undergoes at least some stress every couple of weeks. A study several years ago estimated that around 11 million Americans suffer from unhealthy levels of stress at work, and, unfortunately, today that number has more than tripled (http://www.stresscure.com/hrn/facts.html). Muscles tensing up, feeling short of breath and fast heartbeats are all indications of stress; which apparently many Americans experience daily. To release the strain, numerous people look to exercise as a way of “venting” or in other words, letting go of those feelings of tension. However, to best understand the reasons for exercise as a helpful outlet of stress, one must understand exactly what stress is, what causes it, how it effects the body, how to manage it, and then ways of establishing and motivating oneself to participate in frequent physical activity.
