Her thoughts raced with excitement. I should search for a job too, she thought to Herself. I would be away from that apartment even longer each day and maybe, just maybe I would learn how to interact with people. She was tempted to ask Rob for information on the pizza place. She felt her stomach wobble, reminding her that she was probably setting herself up for disappointment. Backing her ears, she blurted out.
“Rob?” Mel spoke quickly now, excited with her train of thought and possible solution to all this confusion. "Are they hiring at Tribal Pizza?”
Rob took his eyes off the road long enough to glance over to her to see if she was mocking him, or if she was serious. It only took a moment to see that the expression on her face was the exact textbook picture of seriousness. She played with her fingernails as she waited for the answer.
"Yes, hiring a counter position. The position covers the customers that dine in. We need that employee to take orders over the phone and deal with the pick-up customers. "Why?” He hoped he didn 't appear too anxious. On the positive side, He was hoping she wanted the position herself and wasn 't asking for any friend or relative.
"I need a job and I need one desperately. Any chance they would let me interview? I have never worked before, I need this Rob, This would be an answer to my prayers. I am always at loose ends after school, and never have any money of my own. Working would be the only answer.”
