I love the movie As Good as It Gets. I love Jack Nicholson and I have loved Helen Hunt since she played in Twister the year before As Good as it Gets came out. This movie was a perfect example of OCD. My favorite scene is what the whole movie is based on. Nicholson 's character walks out of the Therapist office and turns to a bunch of people with depression and says, “What if this is as good as it gets?”
Anxiety disorders come in many forms, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) being one of them. The article by Borkovec (1995) was about Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) in relation to worrying. One of the things that were mentioned in the article was that with GAD, anxiety is a form of motivation, problem-solving, preparation for the worst, planning way to avoid negative events, distraction from more emotional thoughts, and superstitions effects on the likelihood of future events. I believe that the movie showed a beautiful example of preparation for the worst and planning ways to avoid negative events.
