There are numerous lessons that I have learned from life, they were lessons that I learned from good and bad experiences in life. Different experiences from school and out of school that has made me the way I am today. There is a long list of experiences that in reality did not teach me much. When I was the age of four years old, I started to watch the anime, Dragonball Z, I know this may not be an example of a lesson, but if it is, it is a big lesson because I learned countless of things from the anime. Another one is obviously because she is my mother, I respect her, and I love her to death. My other role model is Yvonne Strahovski, the actress from ‘Chuck’ because if you watched her in interviews and videos, you can see that she is humane, sweet, intelligent, fun, talented and a strong woman. She supports and gives money to charities such as St. Jude’s Hospital. She supports animal rights and she adopted a dog from an animal foundation. She is a great example of a good role model. However I did not have a big problem being in that class, the only issue was there were no instrument like a keyboard piano. The instrument that I picked was the brass flute since it looked easy to learn. As I continued to practice playing the flute in my Beginning Band class and rehearse after school, I mastered to which keys to press and how to blow properly in the riser. To be able to play at a slow tempo, regular tempo, and swift tempo. As matter of fact, I also learned to work well and play all together with my classmates and my flute partner, Robbie Lee. The first lesson that was hard for me to realize I needed to work on was Avoidance (chapter eight). I thought that I never avoided conflict, once I opened my eyes to what avoidance actually is, I realized I did it a lot. For example, with my coworker who constantly likes to mediate situations, I avoided the conversation with him to tell him how I felt because I didn't want to create a conflict with him. I finally did talk to him about it because I didn't want to avoid it any longer. Unfortunately he didn't think that he did that all the time so the conversation did not change the fact that he still does it, but I know now to not avoid conversations with him. The next thing that I realized with myself is I compete a lot, with a lot of people. I like to be in control so I learned that I don't need to be competitive with everything that I can be in control without trying to compete with people. That control factor of myself also brings my next concept of Power Currency (chapter eight) which is a resource that other people value, I used to think that it was bad for me to be the bossy control
For the first example, it has taught me that no matter how hard things become, if you believe you can do it, you can. You should always believe that you can accomplish it, because if you don’t believe it, it won’t happen. Secondly, it has taught me that even if you lost, keep your chin high. Keeping your chin high shows people you’re not afraid that you’ve lost, you’re not afraid to let people know that you’ve lost.

Hi, my name is Rob Geis and I am currently in grade 12. I have been at County High School for a year now; I joined at the start of 11th grade, and have thoroughly enjoyed myself here. The school is great, the people are fantastic and the atmosphere is one that makes you actually want to go to school. Before I joined ASB I was studying at the Singapore American School for two years and prior to that I was at the International School of Kuala Lumpur for two years. I was born and raised here in Bombay city and grew up here.
I have a very fulfilling feeling about what I have been able to accomplish in my life so far. I want the absolute best for myself and those close to me. I often go above and beyond to help those around me succeed and be the best version of themselves that they can possibly be.
My mother taught me lots of things in life and it seems as if every moment I think I was with her, I learned something that will affect me for the rest of my life. She taught me how to be strong, but sometimes you need to cry to let the tears wash your eyes. To live every moment of my life to the fullest and as if it were my last. To be humble in life because someone always has it worse than you, and you have no idea what people go through. And to never ever take anything for granted because you never know what you have until you lost it. This is my moment. The moment that changed my life forever. It is not a moment that I regret, I believe regrets only make you weaker, but it is a moment that I have learned from and a moment that truly did make me realize how fragile life can be, and how fast all of the moments you once had can disappear.
