Part A
1. My dog learned to stay in our yard and not run out in the road through the process of negative reinforcement. We had an electronic tool that would send out a sound that is unpleasant to dogs if he passed the perimeter of the restricted area. Upon returning within the perimeter of the yard, the noise stops. Because the noise being removed increased my dog’s behavior of remaining within our yard, this behavior was learned through negative reinforcement.
2. I learned how to properly study for math courses in my pre-calculus class in high school through the process of intermittent reinforcement. Math classes had always come fairly easily for me, and I thought I was able to retain necessary information just by attending class and without studying much on a day-to-day basis. In this pre-calculus class, however, my teacher gave out pop quizzes. I did poorly on one of the first few quizzes and eventually learned to study a little bit each day in order to be adequately prepared for a possible quiz. This was done by a variable-reinforcement schedule as the pop quizzes were given randomly, so one could not predict when my behavior or my classmates’ behavior would be reinforced.
3. One of my biggest role models is my mom. By modeling her behavior, I have learned to treat people with respect as well as how to be gentle and sympathetic. In addition, I have learned how to be a good listener.
4. One of my friends learned not to talk back to her parents through vicarious punishment. She saw her older brother be reprimanded for talking back to their parents and learned from her brother’s punishment. This illustrates vicarious punishment because my friend was not the one being reprimanded, but she learned to avoid taking par...

...ng a little more than my normal amount of one bottle a day, but I never reached the two bottle mark. Because I didn’t’ reach this goal, I did not allow myself to watch television in order to avoid reinforcing a behavior other than the one I have intended.
Day 2
This day was slightly easier for me as I felt more motivated to accomplish my goal of drinking two bottles of water. Because of my increased motivation I was able to reach my target of two bottles, and as a result, I allowed myself some time to watch television.
Day 3
The third day was the easiest of all for me. After reaching my goal yesterday and enjoying the down time of watching television, I was even more determined to drink the two bottles of water. I successfully drank the two bottles and again reinforced my water consuming behavior by allowing myself to watch television for the second day in a row.

- The first thing you should know about is that my #1 strength on StrengthsQuest is Achiever. That being said, grades are important to me. I strive for excellence and am visibly upset when it isn’t achieved. Math is the subject that has made me redefine the term “excellence”. Over the years I’ve learned to be proud of myself when it comes to math because it is a hard subject and a B is still excellent. That hasn’t always been the case though. Graduation Speech On Math And Science

- In the early years of my life, I went to school in Ethiopia; there, schools mostly focused on advancing students knowledge in math and science subjects. I Have A Math Learning Disability Essay

- ... To start off, there was one day in particular where I remember finding myself looking down at a single piece of paper and contemplating on what all the numbers and symbols have to do with one another. The Role of the Proof in Math Essay example

- The Role of the Proof in Math The notion of proof has long played a key role in the study of mathematics. It is in my opinion the role of proof that separates mathematics from the sciences and other fields of study. It is the existence of proofs that give mathematicians the confidence that their work is credible and thus allows them to continue to build upon prior work without the need to second guess what has previously been accomplished. Based upon this observation, it becomes natural to ask the questions pertaining to the use of proof in learning and understanding mathematics....   [tags: Mathematics Mathematical Papers]
