I am not the best student I have to admit. It all started in my freshman year of high school, I got my first ever-disciplinary referral for buying headphones from my friend. I thought this was the end of my college career thinking that no college, like Georgia Tech, would accept me and that I would never become an engineer. This was the end of my career dream, I thought; so for the rest of my freshman year and the beginning of sophomore year I stopped trying and didn’t really care for homework and tests. I just did what ever I wanted, like play games on my phone. Then, I noticed something that changed my attitude toward school forever; everyday I would see these seniors and juniors leave early from school and I asked one of them where he went everyday and he said Dual Enrollment, which is taking college courses while in high school. Then in my own free time I researched how I can do dual enrollment too, so I set a goal to turn my self around by the end of junior year so that I can get accepted to the Dual Enrollment program at Georgia Gwinnett College; after that decision I started caring about my grades, I brought them up to high B’s and low A’s. I also took the SAT, which is required to dual enroll, and joined clubs like Future Business Leaders of America and Technology Students Association to help me get some items on my resume, and I realized I can still get into college and the disciplinary referral was just a minor set back to my engineering career goal. When junior year ended and senior year started I realized I could’ve brought my grades up to all A’s if I had just studied. Once senior year started and my dual enrollment classes started I knew I needed to start studying more than I have before which was never; so I decided...

...even though it may not be for a set two hours from 6pm to 8pm, but for example, from 8pm to 9pm. I decided to study for at least one hour because I have activities for my Technology Students Association club such as races for the electrathon team. If you are looking to improve your grades I suggest you to start studying every night or every school night for at least 30 minutes and then gradually increase your time until you feel like you’ve reached a good limit. Although I studied for two hours every night a good limit for me was one hour and thirty minutes. Just think of the long-term effect of this; your improvement in grades and GPA will get you more recognition from colleges and more eligibility to apply for high-end scholarships. Just something so little as studying for 30 minutes can do phenomenal things like improve your grades and help you get more organized.
