The main reason I have chosen to apply for an ALT position with JET is that attaining this position would facilitate the accomplishment of three of my short-term goals, to learn Japanese, reach a deeper understanding of Japanese culture and find employment in Japan. There are many reasons I have these goals but the most important one is that my fiancée is Japanese. It’s important for me to be familiar with her culture, because this is an essential aspect of who she is. Japanese fluency will be critical in the future for communicating with her family and raising our children in a bilingual home. Finally, should we decide to live in Japan permanently, experience with a distinguished, reputable organization like JET will prepare me for further employment opportunities within Japan.
The ALT position with JET is an excellent opportunity for me in particular, because I’m a skilled ESL teacher with a wealth of experience. I’ve lived abroad in Chile, The Czech Republic, China, and Japan. I have seven years experience teaching ESL abroad, beginning in the Czech Republic, where I earned my TE...

I want to join Year Up because of the opportunity it provides to receive an education and experience in a professional computer-programming environment that I might not have received otherwise. I believe I am a good candidate for Year Up because of my ability to perform in professional and academic environments alike, as well as a strong desire to succeed in a highly technical field.
A Dynamic Individual with Vitality and Attitude…these are the characteristics of a true DIVA. I never knew the real meaning of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated until I attended college. While I was a student in middle and high school, the lovely women of Delta Sigma Theta seemed intangible to me. I admired them and wanted to one day follow in their footsteps. The way they spoke, how they carried themselves, the respect they demanded and the attention they received just by walking into a room was mind boggling to me. And from those short encounters I knew I wanted to be apart of this prestigious sorority, but now I know why I need to be apart of this extraordinary organization.
I want to be in ASB because I think that this is a great opportunity for me to practice my leadership skills to help all students at Medea Creek. I enjoy helping people and working with others and I know that ASB is a wonderful chance for me to do so. I know that our school should have voices that help others who cannot speak up for themselves and I will help them raise their voices in school. I want to be part of ASB because I think that this can help me mature, and also help achieve my goal for life, which is becoming the president of the U.S. I believe that ASB is a unique opportunity to help me become a game-changer in our school and community. ASB students make changes in their community every day. I think that that is an amazing thing, getting to impact your community every single day.
Over the last decades social protection programs have been developed to mitigate damaging impacts from economic crises and individual setbacks. The role of social health protection has been particularly highlighted as a human right that safeguards the economic productivity of a healthy work force and serves as a social and economic stabilizer in times of crises (Adlung, X. & Sander, L., 2010). Kelly accepted her first job after graduating from her management program and relocated to Japan. Mr. Higashi was her immediate supervisor and mentored several of The Japanese Exchange and Teaching Program (JET) candidates. He definitely liked Kelly right away because she spoke fluent Japanese which set her apart from many of the current and past graduates. Each newly assigned JET employer signed an employment contract which set them apart from the Japanese workers in the office including key differences in work hours, Saturdays off and acknowledgement of the Japanese holidays. Many of the Japanese workers resented the recent graduates because they had these special considerations in their contract and did not have the same w...
I am currently an Equal Employment Opportunity(EEO) Specialist for Naval Sea Systems Command and I desire to provide my customers with exemplary support by developing my language skills. I am currently the only bilingual (English and ASL) staff member. I plan to use my skills to counsel, and interpret for our hearing and deaf clients.
“...many must travel to give speeches and meet with individuals who are important to their organization” (). A public relations and fundraising manager includes traveling to various places. This can mean associating with a more spanish speaking collaborator. And since I am fluent in Spanish, I can work with them more efficiently than a non speaking spanish manager. Having a family of minorities, I know the intimidation and struggles non English speakers feel. Hiring me can make this company a comfortable zone for Spanish speaking clients. A bilingual employee can reduce the problem of trying to hire a translator and be available at all times. If you hire me, it can reduce the time of trying to hire a translator and be present at necessary times. I can be able to associate with Spanish speakers without worrying of having a translator. It is like two in one employee. If you hire me, it can reduce the time of trying to hire a translator and be present at necessary times. Denison (2002) stated that “Japanese strive to meet the expectations of others, especially those in power. As well as Behavioral skills in the work place are more important to success than analytical skills” Another good example of how you are seen by your peers, co workers, or anyone with a position of power is important because It effects their standing and it helps their important sense of conformity. I personally find the culture interesting because it is all so different from my own culture, as well as what I've learned from my acculturation to the american culture.
It was a steep learning curve over the next thirteen years as I gained experience and eventually taught in Taiwan’s most prestigious elementary schools. My teaching experience, combined with my understanding of the culture led to my first management position in an educational role as I became the Head Teacher of a public elementary school in Taiwan. I felt a real sense of commitment to the community in this role and I set ambitious goals when I started this position. My ability to work within the framework of the Taiwanese culture helped me accomplish these goals.
On June 6, 2017 I left for my trip to the Dominican Republic off on a 10 week journey. I worked within a school teaching 4 year olds in the morning and worked alongside first grade through fourth grade students who have either learning disabilities or are new to the school. The school is a multilingual school teaching both English and Spanish along with basic studies.
In addition, shortly thereafter, she and a small group of American business professionals left to Japan. The conflict between values became evident very early on when it was discovered that women in Japan were treated by locals as second-class citizens. The country values there were very different, and the women began almost immediately feeling alienated. The options ...
The ‘Sick Leave’ case study is a good example of how the priorities and interests of the two cultures depicted in the story differentiate. The case study involving Kelly and her supervisor Mr. Higashi shows how different view can collide. Kelly entered the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program. This programs
Lets think about a job that allows you to soar through the air like an eagle, without a care in the world, the job of a pilot is an amazing job that provides you with three things freedom, fully using your sight, and control.
...verestimate etiquette! Although your Japanese business partners may look dead serious (and Japanese people usually take work dead-serious...), they also are human and know to laugh... Here is a famous story (not sure it's a true story though...) demonstrating what can happen with exaggerated cultural adaptation:
This dedication of Japanese employees to their work contributes greatly to the strength of the economy of Japan. They feel like they are part of a big family (the company). Employees work together for the benefit of the company as a whole. They truly feel that their hard work and success contribute to the company's success and growth. Companies also have special programs and classes for the employees, who are the children, to make them feel at home. There are company athletic clubs and cultural classes, such as flower arrangement and the tea ceremony. Since everyone is a member of the "family" in Japan, decisions that the company must make are circulated among the lower echelons of the work force for their opinio...
