Throughout this course, my eyes opened to what good writing should look and sound like. The whole focus of this course was clarity through revision, which was something I appreciated greatly. Dr. Popham opened our eyes to how much a published author would normally go through to create a perfect draft. In doing so, we also learned that writing doesn 't come naturally to us. That is why, with the help from my peers, journals, countless revisions, and brain storming exercises, my ability as a writer to articulate what I want to say matured through revision.
My writing beliefs weren 't that strong when we first started class. Initially, I knew I was taking this class and honestly couldn 't bear the thought of another English class. However, it appeared that I needed an English class. The first thing I wanted to demonstrate to people in my writing was my ability to be concise and clear. When I read an essay, I think, “Does this say what I want it to say?” My job as a writer is to be understood. Thus, regardless of the stance I take on any topic, I always want to make sure that the reader can understand my thought process. I want the reader to understand that I am concise writer and know what I’m saying. This shows several aspects of what we learned in class. During my interview with Valerie, I noticed that I mentioned having a clear outline of a draft as a key component in writing a good essay. If one creates an outline of a draft before they begin the writing process, it allows the reader to dive into the essay easily thus, exciting the reader, keeping them interested, and convincing the reader that the writer knows what are they 're doing. My writing beliefs reflect those of a well-versed writer and thus, making me a better writer....

...great as it simulates real life experiences where you can revise things multiple times. The revision strategies by Murray helped bring us closer to our goal of creating a perfect draft, and our final portfolio reinforces this by creating clear, logical, well-written essays.
Here we approach the end. I’ve been through so much this quarter and learned so much about myself as writer. Revision is key to everything we do. When there isn 't something we like about our lives, these revision strategies can be taken from writing and applied to real life. Instead of our work being written out like our essays, we can see similar results when we take pictures of what we have done and where we have been. Revision is everything, what one chooses to revise can amaze anyone; in this case, it turned me into a better writer. However, what one chooses to do with revision will differ.
