In today's society, there are many bestselling children's book authors, but few manage to break through the universal cultural consciousness, but Suzanne Collins did it. Suzanne Collins’s The Hunger Games trilogy, which is a story about 24 teenagers are chosen by cruel government and they must fight each other in the annual Hunger Games. What’s more, all the games are televised live! Really gives the readers a spiritual shock!

This novel is “Narrow” and “Deep”. In the novel, “Panem, the country that rose up out of the aches of a place that was once called North America…… as our yearly reminder that the Dark Days must never be repeated it gave us the Hunger Games.” (6) The hunger games is an annual television program, the Capitol of the nation of Panem by means of a draw ceremony to choose a boy and a girl in each district, and the child's life would be threatened, they are between the ages of 12 and 18 years, from 12 districts, they were forced to fight to the death. Until a person defeated all others besides him/her, that person is a champion. He/She can have a new House, with lots of foods, fame and fortune.

“All year, the Capitol will show the winning district gifts of grain and oil and even delicacies like sugar while the rest of us battle starvation.”(7) Arena was arranged by artificial forests, wilderness. In the competition, hunting, tracking, hunger, camouflage and so on, were live on television across the country, and everyone must watch and celebrate as a holiday. To Capitol, this is an annual event, is a game. To the 12 districts, this is a torment.

...games interview is the most dangerous part of the Games? All of these because of power. Life and death are not themselves can decide, always in control of bigwigs and government.

After finished this book, I begin thinking, all the rules of the game are man-made, authoritative pressure repeated throughout the book, but this book also displays how to survive in adversity and how to fight the power. The meaning of life is not to get a good set of cards, but rather how to fight against a worse set of cards. Not surprisingly, The Hunger Games is among the best sellers of America and still wear well in all over the world. Although we watch others pain to recreation, we also silently pray the protagonist in the book—Katniss, can turn from Phoenixes to Sparrows as the Chinese like to say.
