Throughout this semester in my Human Services Skills and Methods class I have learned a tremendous amount about myself, the career I am choosing, and the clients that we serve. I learned what it takes to make a great leader, how to participate in a coalition, and what techniques to use within a counseling environment. All of these qualities that I have studied throughout the semester, are going to help me become a better Social Worker, and a better person within society. This class helped me stay motivated to do well in class and to keep my eyes fixed on my goals for my future career.
Before I began this class I often wondered why I was always able to self-reflect very easily. Self-reflection did not seem like a skill that many people practiced and for me, it came so naturally. This was the first semester that I realized that my ability to recognize my own emotions, and the reasons pertaining to my emotions, will serve me in my career. For example, I want to continue learning and experiencing all of the various cultures and languages around the world. When I become the worker I know that I am going to meet an array of people from different backgrounds, religions, and beliefs. I feel that it is my duty to learn as much as I can about cultures so that I am able to serve my client in the best way. As I move forward into the future more prepared than ever before, I am still planning on continuing my education and obtaining a Bachelor 's Degree in Social Work. Although I have a better understanding of what I want to do in my life and on how to serve all individuals better I still want to keep pushing forward and obtain all of my goals.
