The occupation I have chosen is human resource management or HRM. This occupation has stood out to me ever since I’ve started business classes at the University of Southern Indiana. Going into business I didn’t know what to expect or what kind of business I would be interested in. I have talked and discussed this occupation with many peers, as well as, faculty to see what it has to offer. I am interested in many of the tasks and skills that are handled while doing this job. Being able to organize, communicate, and adapt to new situations have always been skills that I performed well. Learning briefly about this occupation has showed me the need for human resource managers in any industry. Knowing these important aspects about human resource management triggered my interest to see if the profession fits me. For the most part the duties that human resource managers will perform are concerned with employees, both as individuals and as a group. The goal is to serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering contracts, and helping solve work related problems (Human Resource Manager, 2015). This type of management oversees the recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of new staff, and consulting with top executives on strategic planning. In human resource management, maintaining employee relations will increase employee job satisfaction through surveys, employee communication programs, interviews, and fair treatment.
