The occupation I have chosen is human resource management or HRM. This occupation has stood out to me ever since I’ve started business classes at the University of Southern Indiana. Going into business I didn’t know what to expect or what kind of business I would be interested in. I have talked and discussed this occupation with many peers, as well as, faculty to see what it has to offer. I am interested in many of the tasks and skills that are handled while doing this job. Being able to organize, communicate, and adapt to new situations have always been skills that I performed well. Learning briefly about this occupation has showed me the need for human resource managers in any industry. Knowing these important aspects about human resource management triggered my interest to see if the profession fits me.
Human resource management has a high impact on the overall business or organization being managed. This occupation requires one to meet specific education and obtain requirements. There are many duties and responsibilities that will be performed such as, ensuring that goals and objectives are met, increasing in the business or organization’s effectiveness and satisfying all of the employee 's needs. This occupation is expanding, as well as, an ever growing workforce.
In order to take on a role of HRM there are specific education requirements that need to be met. For most positions a bachelor’s degree is needed. Most bachelor degrees take up to four years to complete at a college or university. A majority of the curriculum for this degree will include traditional classroom training, internships, and fieldwork (7 Essential Questions, 2015). By understanding this a company can create an atmosphere that makes employees want to come and work. By not following these laws it can make the work environment uncomfortable and less productive. Employees will have less conflict and better work morale when an employer protects and takes these laws seriously.
This occupation has several requirements, as well as, duties and responsibilities that will continue to be performed in any human resource manager position. Human resource managers are important and one of the key aspects of any company, business, or organization. These individuals are the link between employees and management that help keep the business productive and on task.
