Multiple intelligence
Howard Gardner’s theory contains eight main multiple intelligence. As the years have progressed there have taken one out and is left with the main seven. These seven are: Linguistic, Mathematical, Spatial, bodily, Musical, Interpersonal, and Intrapersonal. These are found in everyone; however, each person will excel in one or two. Once teachers can determine what intelligence the students will exceed on and teach to their strengths the student will learn much more.
Definition of Learning
Mr. Gardner defines it as, [Intelligence is] the ability to solve problems, or to create products, that are valued within one or more cultural settings (Helding, 2009). Learning is a skill acquired by action, it is by being taught, reading or by doing. Once the information that is being comprehended is understood the learning process is complete; however, no one is ever done learning.
Prominent Theorists
A Harvard graduate, Howard Gardner is a Psychologist who came up with the multiple intelligence. Regarding arts and education, Gardner recounted the curious dearth of literature that obtained at the time he joined “Project Zero,” a research group founded at the Harvard Graduate School of Education in 1976 and still dedicated to the study and improvement of education in the arts. The founders believed that arts learning should be studies as a serous cognitive activity, but at the time of the project’s founding, “zero” had been established about the topic (Helding, 2009). Conclusion
Multiple intelligence is a skill that everyone has, and can relate to at lest one or two of them. With Mr. Gardner and his fellow founders putting in their long hours came up with the intelligence that we relate to today. Once the person figures out what intelligence they are they can play to the strength of it. Each person learns on a different level and a different way.
