To Tell the Truth or Not
Trust is an important aspect of a relationship; imagine being trusted by 2 individuals, only to be face with a difficult decision to break the trust of one. I was in that situation approximately 2 years ago. It was a warm summer day when my father asked my big brother and me to clean the fish pond in the back yard before he returns from his business trip. We both agreed to have it done before he gets back. However, we spend our days playing video games, hanging out with friends, and watching television. The day before my father returned from his trip, my brother went to check on the pond to see the amount of work need it to be done. For example, like my father Creon was the king and the authority of Thebes and he demanded for people to follow his laws “That is my will. Take care that you do your part” Creon wanted that the traitors do not have a proper burial and was making sure his people carry out his law. However, Antigone like my big brother did not want to follow the law Creon just established “Creon is not enough to stand in my way” Antigone did not care what the law was, she was going to give her brother a proper burial even if it meant deceiving the king. As for me, I was like Antigone sister Ismene, who does not want to challenge the authority of the king Creon “Bury him! You have just said the new law forbids it” Ismene was welling to stay loyal to the king, just like I chose to tell the truth and stead loyal to my father. As a consequence, Ismene was treated like an out sider by her sister “Go away, Ismene: I shall be hating you soon, and the dead will too” out of anger Antigone said the above statement to her sister, just like my brother did not want anything to do with me after I got us in trouble.
