Before the 1920's Americans use to walk and ride their horses for transportation. But when Henry Ford came along, he invented the first car that would drastically change American lives. This car was so popular that 4 out 5 of Americans owned a car. Many Americans also bought it because it was affordable to the rich and poor. It was named car of the century by critics. The Model T improved peoples lives because it united families, improved working conditions, improved social lives between couples, and it was used in many different ways.
The first reason that the Model T improved peoples lives was by families being more united. For example, in a history book it says, "On Sundays many families hopped into their cars for short day trips." ( Nash, 380) This quote demonstrates the families being united because they would go for trips together. This was different than before because before families would not visit each other as often because they needed a car so they rode in trains and other transportation they had. Another example is from a website that says, " It became an integrated of life. Parents could drive to work. Families could visit friends and family who lived far away in their Model T." (http://www.angelfire.com/pscst/html) This quote shows that families could drive far to friends and families house which really changed their lives. Before they could live far so people would usually live close, but the Model T changed that. The last quote is from a website that states, "I will build a car for the great multitude. It will be large for the family, but small enough for the individual to run and care for." (www.modelt.org,1)
This quote illustrates that the Henry Ford made this car big enough so families could unite and travel in it. Before they couldn't travel as much cause it would cost them so this really changed lives. As a result, the Model T improved people's lives by creating this car for families to stay united and be united.
The second reason that the Model T improved people's lives was by improving working conditions. A piece of evidence is from a website that says, "Workers no longer needed to live close to their workplace, instead they live farther away and still arrive at their jobs.
The one thing families could not afford was the car. With the invention of the Model T from Ford, people could manage to buy it, without having to sell their arms and legs. In fact, the sale of the car was so successful, that in order to keep up with demands, he had to create an assembly line. From the time when the model T was made, parking lots, paved roads, and gas stations evolved, creating a major change in the world from what it was before.
The automobile had changed America in many ways since it has been created in the early 1900’s. When the automobile was first invented it was a thing only the rich could afford. After the invention of the mass production line more and more people were able to buy automobiles because they were being produce and sold for cheaper. A historian once said that Henry ford is the reason why common people have no limitations of their geography.
Henry Ford was one of the most famous people in the world. He revolutionized assembly line modes for the automobile, which revolutionized the auto industry for America. He invented the Ford model T car, in 1908, which was his first car he invented. Because of this reason, Ford sold and continues to sell millions of automobiles and became head of a world renowned and innovative auto company. His company didn't really dominate the foreign market, but it made a huge impact in technology and the development of the U.S infrastructure. Today, we look at the Ford company and see how much it has changed, and how much it has evolved. Ford is known for helping build the American economy
Henry Ford revolutionized the invention of cars, and it became much more popular. More people at the time began to buy cars, and streets and traffic had to be updated and were modernized because of this. With the popularization of of the Model T cars and other automobiles came the invention of the assembly line. The assembly line was used to create the Model T, and many other products by Ford himself. The assembly line helps in putting together large products with many tiny pieces in a small amount of time. Working in an assembly line may not be the most “fun” job, but it definitely helped the production of said product. And with an easier and faster production comes a lower priced product. And with lower priced product comes more eager customers. And that is why the car became so
Henry Ford realized his dream of producing an automobile that was reasonably priced, reliable, and efficient with the introduction of the Model T in 1908. (XXXX) “This vehicle initiated a new era in personal transportation. It was easy to operate, maintain, and handle on rough roads, immediately becoming a huge success.
A motor car for the great multitude a goal for Henry Ford(Schlager 593). In the 1920s, automobiles are rapidly changing the American lifestyle forever because of their affordability and also the development of new assembly technology to lower the cost. Technological innovations of assembly begin to expand and advance for the better throughout the 1920s, which impacts Americans and the people of the world today. Henry Ford, a bold figure during the 1920s, owner of Ford automobiles. His ideas and innovation like the assembly line forever changes the automobile and the way goods are produce. Although there are many technological advancement during the 1920s, the assembly line designed by Henry Ford is the most important innovation of its time because it lowers the price for goods, creates worker friendly well paying jobs, and still largely impacts the automobile industry today.

The rapidly growing automobile industry led by Henry Ford and the Ford Motor Increased wages and lower cost vehicles made possible through mass production meant that cars became increasingly affordable, although 3 out of 4 cars were bought on installment plans. Company produced new and better models every year to supply the insatiable public demand( http://www.1920-30.com). With, automobiles it made it easier for people to go place to place, it also was affordable for the people to buy. The automobiles were easy to make because of the assembly line in that

The 1920's were a time where North America became modernized. Whether it was the music, the culture or the growth in technology, this time era is known to most people as the point where America advanced itself to become a world renowned country. An advancement that will be focused on is the Ford Model T. During this time owning a car was a symbol of wealth. Henry Ford, the creator of the Model T, made a system that revolutionized the automobile industry as we know it today. Henry Ford made it possible for people with an average income to own a motor vehicle by creating the assembly line and the theory of mass production. "The horse, which had been the chief means of land transportation for 3,500 years, had given way to the automobile, and the country's largest industry had been born." (Gordon)
In his book, McNeill chapter by chapter, explains that the people living in the world are positively affecting the world in an abundance of ways. Firstly, the fact that the worlds population has almost quadrupled within the last one hundred years proves that the world can quickly be manipulated, and made better (271). With hundreds of millions of people all living in unison the world will most definitely be impacted. An invention that helped jumpstart the industrial revolution, and helped better the world is the invention of the Model T automobile. The Model T brought many jobs to the United States in the middle of an economic crisis. First, people were needed to assemble the automobiles, but also, people were needed to pave roads for the automobiles to drive on. This was all apart of F. D. Roosevelt’s New Deal (311). The automobile was not only beneficial to the life of millions, it also brought the use of many new inventions; such as, the assembly line and removable parts. The invention of these parts has since continued to benefit the world. Companies are able to produce machines in a quicker and convenient manner, which thus creates a larger profit for them. Henry Ford wanted to build a high-quality automobile that would be affordable to everyday people. He believed the way to do this was to manufacture one model in huge quantities. Henry Ford searched the world for the best materials he could find at the cheapest cost. During a car race in Florida , Ford examined the wreckage of a French car and noticed that many of its parts were made of a metal that was lighter but stronger than what was being used in American cars. No one in the U.S. knew how to make this French steel a vanadium alloy. As part of the preproduction process for the Model T, Ford imported an expert who helped him build a steel mill. As a result, the only cars in the world to utilize vanadium steel in the next five years would be French luxury cars and the Model T. Ford realizes he needs another efficient way to produce the cars in lower prices. Ford saw what he was missing was 4 principles that would help with the Model T which was interchangeable parts, continuous flow, division of labor, and reducing wasted
When Henry Ford was born on June 30th, 1863, neither him nor anyone for that matter, knew what an important role he would take in the future of mankind. Ford saw his first car when he was 12. He and his father where riding into Detroit at the time. At that moment, he knew what he wanted to do with his life: he wanted to make a difference in the automobile industry. Through out his life, he achieved this in an extraordinary way. That is why he will always be remembered in everyone’s heart. Whenever you drive down the road in your car, you can thank all of it to Henry Ford. Through his life he accomplished extraordinary achievements such as going from a poor farm boy to a wealthy inventor who helped Thomas Edison. When he was a young man, he figured out how to use simple inventions, such as the light bulb. He then taught himself the design of a steamboat engine. His goal was to build a horse-less carriage. He had come up with several designs and in 1896, he produced his first car, the Model A. When Ford’s first car came out, he had been interviewed by a reporter and when asked about the history of the car, he had said “History is more or less bunk.” Ford worked in Thomas Edison’s factory for years and the left to become an apprentice for a car-producer in Detroit. While working there, he established how he was going to make the car.
329) There was not one specific person who "invented the automobile," but, there were many people who contributed to the invention of the automobile.(Ingrassia, 5) (Boyne, 31) These people include Isaac Newton, who developed a power carriage in the fourteen twenties, and Joseph Cugnot, who built the first steam powered automobile in seventeen sixty nine. The first American to develop an automobile was Nathan Redd.(Brown, 329) The use of the automobile in the United States became common due to the convenience and reliability of a quick, easy to operate source of transportation. The American people began to build their homes further from their jobs, and further from civilization because they could commute back and forth much more quickly.(Simanaitis, 337) The convenience, reliability, and easy commute were only a few positive effects of the development of the automobile in the United States. The invention of the automobile also directly stimulated the economical growth and success of the United States.
