Technology has become increasingly prevalent within our schools in the last decade. Teachers are now using computers and technology-based lessons in the classroom to pull students away from the normal paper-pencil technique. In an article by Linda Starr entitled “Integrating Technology in the Classroom: It Takes More Than Just Having Computers”, she describes how teachers need to be able to operate technology properly and be able to assist children with their technological needs. However, Mark Pullen writes in his article “Pros & Cons: Is Elementary Too Early for 1:1 Technology?”, that although exposing children to this amount of technology can be a good thing, there are qualities that children will not develop if they do not keep the technological lessons to a minimum. iPads and computers are taking away the place of textbooks and assignments which is in turn hurting children’s developmental skills. Since technology is growing within elementary classrooms, children are becoming more distracted from the lesson being taught and if teachers cannot properly operate and incorporate technology into their lesson plans, they are not improving the curriculum. Therefore, we need to correct this problem by reducing the amount of technology-based lessons teachers incorporate and limiting how often children are exposed to technology in the classroom. Additionally, it is essential to properly educate teachers on how to adequately use computers and iPads in the classroom in order to accurately operate technology.
The technology-inspired lessons are becoming mandatory in almost all elementary classrooms due to the growing need and demand for technology in all forms. Most young adults are technologically inclined when it comes to using compute...

...e able to go back to how it was before these devices started to take over. Students will be able to perform concrete standards without technology which is how it should be all the time.
Technology is now required in almost all classrooms in order to get the lesson across. Teachers must be able to properly and effectively work the devices within their classrooms in order to meet the curriculum without confusing students. But with their knowledge of technology in their classrooms, not all lessons should be technology oriented and should encourage students to get off devices and go play outside. Not all students’ families are as privileged as the school system seems to think. Limiting technology by putting certain blocks on recreational games and allowing more recess, will in turn help the generation to become less distracted and more focused on the lesson being taught.

Technology in the Classroom Essay

- Over the last several years I feel there has been a huge shift in the way people around the world are taught and the way people learn in the classroom on a day-to-day basis. In my opinion this is not a result of change to a single element involving teaching techniques, but more specifically a change in amount (increase) of technology used by teachers and students alike. Technology provides many major benefits to society, proven by its dramatic advancement over the last 30 years, but it also presents the question- If we are choosing to make our lives easier by using technology, which in essence is what it is made for, are we really learning/ comprehending as much as we once did....   [tags: internet literacy, mobile technology, reading]

Essay about Using Technology Into The Classroom Environment

- Even if educators make rash decisions of incorporating technology into the classroom environment does not mean it will always be necessary a poor decision for their students. Anything can be learned to use appropriately for students to benefit and learn from because even if you as an educator do not like the device does not mean the students would not as well. If the technology is used in a positive way rather than just looking at it that it is a negative or a distractor for students rather than some students may need to use those resources so he or she can be more successful in the classroom....   [tags: Learning, Education, Skill, Technology]
