Introduction According to Sire (2004) a worldview in essence is the "set of presuppositions, assumptions which may be true, partially true or entirely false which we hold consciously or subconsciously, consistently or inconsistently about the basic makeup of our world" (p. 19). All of us, however believe that something beyond us is present, yet there are many different thoughts on what that may be. As Sire (2004) points out many believe in "matter", while others believe in the "spirit or soul" (p. 19). We are left with many questions. How was our world created? Is there a God? Is He good or even real? These questions are important and determine how we view our life. Additionally, our worldviews are shaped by the influences in our lives, …show more content…
My personal Christian worldview is based on God being the creator of our universe and all powerful. He has provided salvation for us by way of Jesus Christ, as well as provided a foundation and guide for us to live by with the Holy Bible. "Don 't be troubled. You trust God, now trust in me. There are many rooms in my Father 's home, and I am going to prepare a place for you. If this were not so, I would tell you plainly. When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. And you know where I am going and how to get there" (John 14: 1-4). Likewise, Jesus is the way to our Lord. He said "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. If you had known who I am, then you would have known who may Father is. From now on you know him and have seen him"! (John 14: 6). Furthermore, the Holy Spirit provides a way to stay connected to God in faith and be directed to do his work (Holy Bible, NIV, …show more content…
We have been carefully instructed, but also given the free will to do amazing things with the teachings of God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, and the word of the Holy Bible. Jesus is the Son of God and we learn from him about our Lord, which only he could do because he is God. This in of itself is an exceptional gift of trust. He gives us the answer through his son, so we can accomplish his purpose in our lives (Holy Bible, NIV, 1996). Likewise, Jesus Christ encourages us to go out and to do better and make a difference in our world. "You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it useful again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless. You are the light of the world - like a city on a mountain, glowing in the night for all to see. Don 't hide your light under a basket! Instead put it on a stand and let it shine for all. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly father" (Matthew 5:
Without that, we are stumbling around using our own wisdom to solve the problems that are devoid of Christ. Christ is THE way, THE truth, THE life…there is no other answer. We must not give out imperatives without the indicative. We must not use worldly wisdom. We must not be foolishly believing “every man’s way is right in his own eyes.” That is devoid of wisdom, which is devoid of Christ, which is godlessness and therein lies no answers but only instating idols. 1 Peter 1:3-4 “His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful
The Christian worldview is centered on the Gospel and places their beliefs in the essential teachings of the Trinity, the deity of Jesus Christ, and Jesus’ resurrection from the dead (DiVincenzo, 2015). This paper will explain who God is and what he created, what our purpose and nature is as humans, who Jesus was and what he did while on earth, how God plans to bring his people back into the right relationship with himself, and as a Christian how one is to live their life with an analysis of the Christian worldview.
What is a worldview? A worldview is an idea or thought that manifest in our brain but is originated from how we perceive and feel towards events that happen during our life. The opinions we express outwardly in action disseminates to others with whom we surround ourselves with, and vise versa. Collectively we take in worldviews and judge them to our own view, and settle on a conscious agreement to what we hold to be truth.
My task in establishing a worldview seemed daunting until reviewing, “I believe God is the source of all truth”(Hindson and Towns). This inspired me to not worry and focus on God’s message to me. In studying and researching I discovered Romans is the New Testament’s most important book. The importance of Romans is summarized best by Martin Luther, “This Epistle is really the chief part of the New Testament and the very purest Gospel, and is worthy not only that every Christian should know it word for word, by heart, buy occupy himself with it every day, as the daily bread of the soul”(Luther).
the gap that existed between man and God because of sin, has been bridged. His precious blood that was shed on the cross wiped away all our sins. Furthermore, the death of Christ means humanity received grace; “grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” According to John the Baptist in John 1:18, know one has set eyes on the Father, but through Jesus Christ, who is in close relation with God the Father, has made Him known.
Recognition of a person’s worldview can be found based on one’s answer to several reality questions surrounding God (origin), human nature (identity), reality (meaning/purpose), after life (destiny), values (morality or ethics). My own definition of worldview is a set of beliefs about the most important issues in life and my reaction to them. While in agreement with Jeff Baldwin’s eyeglass concept, I choose to compare my Christian worldview to an internal navigation system. When I am lost and need to be found, Christ is omnipresent. He knows my location and guides me in another direction.
All people have a worldview that is based on personal beliefs forming their reality and what they feel is meaningful in life. I am a Christian of faith that has a biblical worldview, which is based on the word of God. The Book of Romans 1-8 provides the word of God and answers for how Christians can live a righteous life for our savior Jesus Christ.
Many people would not believe that worldview would be involved in the topic of work, but it certainly is. Worldview stretches throughout almost every facet of our lives and is even an intricate part of work. Christian and secular viewpoints differ immensely when it comes to work. Many Christians believe that work is an intricate part of God’s plan for mankind while the secular viewpoint sees it as more of a personal, everyday activity the serves no more of a purpose that that of personal success. The secular worldview has distorted the context of work and only the Christian worldview can redeem it to its original context.
Hey Doug, I was wondering what your worldview is. In case you don’t know what a worldview is I will give you the definition for it. A worldview is basically how a person sees the world. Every person is entitled to have a worldview and I was wondering which was yours because everyone has a worldview whether the person knows it or not. A person might just even see the world as a happy place and that would count as a worldview because that’s how the person sees the world. Colossians 3:17 “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” There are many different worldviews per person in this world.
In conclusion, my worldview encapsulates the fact that a God exists and he has created the human race in his image. Being created in his image, I am bestowed with God’s character of love, kindness, righteousness, forgiveness, and all other great attributes expressed by him. Our duty as those who claim the title “Christian” is to live with a Christ like attitude and to walk the walk instead of just talking the talk. I need to put my knowledge, talents, and skills to work for Christ till his return. The choice to live my life for him is what gives my life meaning and purpose.
Faith is the act of believing (Mappes, D. A. (2010). Our mark is to love one another despite differences. Christian worldview should not be confusing to anyone that is looking for salvation and wants their live to change for good. Jesus is the only way to God. Through Jesus we can accomplish everything that is going to be for our own good. This might just be difficult to understand for a person who was never introduced to God before or who came from a different worldview. Despite this God teaches us to love one another no matter our differences. The fear of God is essential for a Christian because this will prevent him or her from harming others. You think before you speak or act. No matter how terrible someone has been with us, Christians forgive and put that person in their prayers. Christians put themselves in others shoes and just by doing this people will receive a better outcome of any situation. This is why Christianity has grown because we have been able to provide answers to questions of life and death (Verhoef, 2016). Christians follow Jesus commands. If we all base ourselves in what he wants for us, the world will be definitely a better
The World View is a global concept. It defines our standard of how things are or should be in the world we live in. It makes up our rules of how we and others should act and our values and morals to behave in the world. For most of the people, the world view is a vague set of rules that we have unconsciously adopted from the society. Generally our family, religious groups and society seldom allow us for making creating our own. Through our intellect, we can create aspects of our world view. In short the World View is a filter through which we make judgments of others and ourselves.
I would like to explore one of the questions posed to us by Professor which is “How can we make the positive aspects of postmodernism work in our favor?” Or even more specifically, the positive and neutral elements of postmodernism, work in the favor of the Christian worldview and thought. We will start by first exploring the basic tenants of postmodernism and a brief history of where it has been and where it is currently, revealing multiple advantages for the Christian worldview in the engagement of a postmodern.
Although we may not all see eye to eye, we all still have our own worldview. The central idea of a worldview is to be the different beliefs that are an understanding of how we see the world around us. It will be understood by how a person feels about the different emotions and ideas that are encountered on a daily basis. A worldview is a response to our heart or inner being: our intellect, emotion and will. Weider, Gutierrez,59
The Bible is a holy book that outlines the best course for all of life’s endeavors. The Apostle Peter said, “As His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,” 2 Peter 1:3 (NKJV). God’s word gives us ALL things that we need to be healthy and productive in this world. Furthermore, Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and have it more abundantly,” John 10:10 (NKJV). Jesus came not only to give spiritual life but to also provide through His word a better quality of life. In Galatians 6:2 the Bibl...
