I have studied English since I was a grade seven, but the curriculum in my middle school and high school years, mainly focuses on reading and speaking components of language skills, with a little focus on writing. As a result, I never felt confident with any piece that I was asked to write. Writing has been a hurdle for me to succeed in college since most of the courses in college requires one or the other way writing skill. Consequently, I have decided to work on my writing skills, and have started working on it; even before, I started taking this English 101 class. I used to use a various educational material which I thought might help me to meet my writing goal. Some of the materials which I was using includes: TOEFL educational materials, You Tube resources, and various novels. All of these resources have helped me to polish my writing skills. Furthermore, after I started taking this class, I have learned to enjoy writing. I have made it a point to communicate my own thoughts and feelings as opposed to simply summarize the thoughts of famous writers and authors before me. This class builds up my confidence in my own writing and for that I am highly appreciative.
During the four week English 101 class, I have been able to grasp a concrete knowledge which would make me a better writer. This course used a holistic approach to empower us to be able to express our thought on a paper. The course covered essay writing, grammar, punctuation, paraphrasing other writer’s essays which were a basic tool to be a better written. As the same time, I used to get feedback from my professor and my classmate and I used it all imputes I get for my own advantage. Throughout this course, I have been comparing all the essay assignment I wrote since starting from essay one, and I have clearly noticed that how much I have grown as a writer. This semester was a special one for me because through time I have acquired confidence in my writing skill. Thus, I truly believe that the essay I write will be well understood and influential one. Furthermore, I fully convinced that I can write an excellent essay on the upcoming GRE which I am planning to take next month. All my optimism is due to the crucial knowledge I have acquired throughout this course has made me capable of writing an excellent essay. There are still a room for improvement, thus I will keep striding over the coming months. At the end, I would confidently say that this class has helped me to be a better writer and I am thankful for that.
