Social Class and Quality of Education in America

Throughout the years, many aspects of the educational curriculum have been altered and modified as it relates to the material that is being taught within schools worldwide. Some of the changes are due to new laws that are being implemented and “raising the bar” for the education of the upcoming generations. But with all of the changes being made does it level the playing field or does it make it more competitive? Which brings up the questions, “How does social class effect the quality of education and does equal opportunity in education exist in America?” Social class affects the quality of one’s education through power, social status and equality within the educational system.
America is a multicultural society that is compiled of many ethnicities and cultural orientations. With the different backgrounds, it can sometimes be a task to incorporate each culture in the classroom. It is the teachers’ responsibility to make his or her classroom a multicultural environment for their students to broaden their horizons. Many may think

Social class is a division between individuals that share common economic, social and political status. There are three main classes that they are broken up into, which are the upper class, middle class, working class and lower class. The upper class consists those that are extremely wealthy. The middle class consists of those that fall in the middle of the upper class and the working class. They have more money than the working class, but less money than the upper class. The working class consists of those whose jobs include manual labor. The last of the social class are those that are of the lower class. Those that are of this class are possibly unemployed or homeless.
