Personality tests are a big hit amongst company recruiters. “Almost 80% of midsize to large companies use personality tests for entry and mid-level positions.” There are many different types of tests for different types of positions. They can help assess potential candidates that have the necessary characteristics to stand out from the rest. Especially useful, for example, is in the customer service department, where tests like Emotional Intelligence (E.I) and the “Big Five Factor” personality model can identify people who have the skills and patience to solve customer related problems. It's no wonder as to why these tests are so popular. The use of these tests has been gradually increasing amongst different companies over the past few years. The Big Five Factor model is one the most heavily used personality assessment tests in organizations. This test outlines five different personality traits (Openness to Experience, conscientiousness, extroversion, agreeableness and emotional stability/neuroticism), and individuals are placed into ...
The Big Five is the most widely accepted and used model of personality. The model consists of broad dimensions of personality traits. These dimensions are: Openness to Experience/Intellect, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness and Neuroticism. Upon completion of the Big Five Personality test, my results were somewhat surprising to me. Overall, I scored on the low end for Openness to Experience/Intellect, Extraversion and Neuroticism dimensions and on the high end for Conscientiousness and Agreeableness dimensions.
A test to see exactly what type of job people qualify for, or their MOS, Military Occupation Specialty, gets a better job.
Third, for purposes of personal selection in an organization there often will be reliance on an appraisal of personality traits.
The goal of the personality assessments was to provide a better understanding of all of the individuals. Prior research indicated that certain personality types are best matched with certain tasks. However, it is challenging to meet both the technical and personal criteria to create the “perfect” employee. Therefore, it was determined that the knowledge of the individual’s personality style and that of their team members provided a more realistic solution toward communicating effectively and working together as a team. Further instruction is planned for the group to discuss how individuals need to communicate based on their own results and the r...
My personality is hard to describe. It all can depend on the situation, but overall my core values stay the same. In this paper I will describe my personal analysis, which will include a self-assessment score of maximizer and satisficer, time management profile, and empowering others. I will also describe what my terminal values and instrumental values are. Then I will go through what my big five personality characteristics are and my MBTI personality profile. I will then describe my job posting assessment and, finally, my personal job fit analysis. Hopefully, by the end of this I will be able to recognize my strengths, weaknesses and values and have the ability to match my values to the type of values job postings are looking for.

Managers seem to inherit a strong trust in the authority of personality traits to forecast behavior at the work area. If managers thought that situations resolute behavior, they would hire individuals almost at random and assemble the situation correctly. But the employee selection procedure in most establishments places a great deal of importance on how applicants achieve in interviews and on examine through which the personality of a person can be achieved and the task distribution can be much easy varying upon the type of personality (Robbins, Odendaal and Roodt, 2001)
“The Five Factor Model provides a compelling framework for building personality measures that seek to represent the domain of individual terms broadly and systematically” (Briggs, 1989 as cited in McAdams. DP, 1992, p. 332). The FFM consists of five factors (The ‘Big Five’). They are Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism. When measured individuals can range from extremes on each of these traits.

Psychometric tests are designed to measure the behaviour and capabilities of possible employees. (Johnstone, 1999). Employers use these tests to measure two categories of qualities – abilities and preferences (Mills et al., 2011). This provides an effective and efficient way to find the best person for the job as the tests give a true reflection of how an employee can accomplish assigned tasks which is completed online as part of the application process. Candidates are chosen for the next stage of the process through the comparison of test scores, resulting in grouping candidates into high and low percentile scoring categories. The higher scoring applicants are put through to the next stage of the process. This would normally be the interviewing stage. The lower scoring applicants would be declined. This is a form of filtering down the number of applicants, although the interviewing stage provides the means of selection, despite its subjectivity the tests provide a uniform set of standards to measure one candidate objectivity against another (Johnstone,1999). The Five-Factor Model of Personality is a system used in order to describe an individual’s personality traits. By requiring said individual to answer a series of questions, this test is able to decipher the traits that are most likely evident within their life. The Five-Factor Model of Personality test gives the test subject a series of situational options. Using the subject’s responses, psychologist match the answers to the personality in which best relates. A highly accurate description of ones’ personality can be easily configured by using the Five-Factor Model of Personality by testing either high or low in the following areas; openness to experience, extraversion, conscientiousness, agreeableness, and neuroticism.

Managers should understand an employee’s skills and abilities to make an informed decision on whether or not to hire him. Once hired a manager uses skills and abilities as a deciding factor for an employee’s job placement within the corporation. Secondly, an evaluation of an employee’s personality helps the manager in his leadership approach of that employee. Thirdly, perceptions can be the deciding factor of whether or not a candidate is hired and or promoted. An individual perceived as fitting in may be hired to negotiate business deals. Particularly, if the individual shows a favorable attitude through actions and deeds and has strong values and behaves
One of the most prominent trends in organization today is the use of team to accomplish the work, which have assigned to an individual. Every team is made up of specific individuals and they are specialized in certain area of interest. If one of the specifications is missing It can be reflected on their performance. It indicates that, every individual is important for the organization.
