Ability to learn business change management within an ICT project environment.
When working on a project it is extremely beneficial to follow a structured project management process, to ensure the highest quality outcomes are achieved. This process begins by deciding the desired outcome of the project and identifying the required resources. At this stage it’s important to have a initiation meeting with key stakeholders to explain the premise of the project and the overall goals. The second stage involved planning how the project will operate and will create guiding documents such as the project plan, timelines and stakeholder lists. The roles and responsibilities of those involved in the project (both project officers and stakeholders) will also be defined. ...ompleted within the timeframe given. These involved a high deal of multitasking as many of the documents were interconnected and needed to be worked on at the same time. To make sure the team was on track to meet deadlines I prioritised tasks according to their importance and impact on further tasks. For example, if a clinical director was going to be unavailable for a length of time I would prioritise documentation relating to their area so they would be able to be involved in the process and offer feedback. While working on the project I learned the importance of seeing the bigger picture - while individual tasks and goals are important (i.e. one document) it’s necessary to remember what the end goal is and how each task fit into the overall outcome. This concept also allowed me to better time manage my tasks and utilise the pre-planned deadlines more efficiently.
