This paper will describe how an effective performance appraisal can increase employee performance. Effective performance appraisals can benefit an organization by allowing Human Resources to monitor the company objectives and that they are being met. Performance appraisals benefit the employees by allowing them to evaluate their own progress as they strive to be successful. This paper will include sections on the strategic advantages of performance appraisals, potential forms of bias within the appraisal system, as well as how performance appraisals can contribute to the achievement of strategic objectives. Employees and the company benefit because it allows employees to monitor their progress as they strive to improve and the company can monitor the goals and that they are being met.

These aspects would include profitability, personality, growth potential, strengths and weaknesses. This also helps HR to measure the respect for organizational rules and regulations. It shows efficiency, leadership and teamwork capabilities. It helps HR to determination communication skills and adaptability to variances in the work environment.

Performance appraisals need to be conducted without biases to be fair and just towards the employees. There are advantages of performance appraisals for the company. That is to be able to recruit the right type of employee to match each position being applied for and helps with decision making within the organization. Performance appraisals help identify the strengths and weakness of the employees and the company. Employees and the company benefit because it allows employees to monitor their progress as they strive to improve and the company can monitor the goals and that they are being met.
