I chose to reader The Horse Dealer’s Daughter by D.H. Lawrence for my analysis. This love story has a different take on it than a normal love story. It is about a young woman named Mabel, whom has found out that her family has run out of money and now she doesn’t know what she should do with her life. Her brothers can go off and do many different things but ever since her mother died she has taken care of the house hold. She goes to her mother’s grave which always brings her peace to trim grass around the headstone, because taking care of her mother’s grave makes her feel close to her mother. She thinks about how her mother was a glorified women and how she wants to be like that. She decides that it would be best to walk into the lake and commit suicide so that she would achieve “her own glorification”. Before she walks into the water, a doctor named Jack Ferguson and friend of her brothers see her at the grave and stops to watch her. She walks into the water and Dr. Ferguson goes in to save her.
