The Horrors of the Terrorist Attacks on 9/11

The September 11, 2001 attacks had been planned since the mid to late 1900s just after World War Two. The events that led up to September 11, 2001 ended in tragedy. On September 11, 2001, two planes crashed into the North and South World Trade Center Towers in New York City. Flight 175,an American Airlines plane was hijacked that morning and crashed into the North tower. Only a short time later after the first attack, another American Airlines plane Flight 11 was crashed into the South tower. That same day another plane Flight 77 crashed into the West side of the Pentagon in Washington, DC. Earlier that day Flight 93 was hijacked and headed for the White House, but the passengers on board the plane took over and crashed the plane near a town called Shanksville, Pennsylvania. The terrorist plots on September 11, 2001 became the most significant attack on American soil to date. September 11,2001 was seen as the attack of Islamic- Fascism and Democracy. (Carr 293) The plan to carry out the 9/11 attacks was beneficial to Bin Laden by Khalid Sheik Mohammed, his informer. (Carr 298). Planes where chosen carefully for them. They chose a Tuesday because the flights where usually quiet. (Stewart 51). Before the attacks on 9/11 the hijackers all took flight lessons in the U.S. costing them $250 each time. (Stewart 53). The time they where taking flying lessons, some say that the hijackers hid the weapons in the airport. Most people say they had help on the inside (Stewart 51). A month before the 9/11 attacks Bin Laden had told the U.S he had planned attacks on us. He says that the United States is a place of wickedness and corruption. Bin Laden Said “it was a Muslims duty to kill Americans”(Stewart 49). September 15, 2001 Newsweek said “F... ... middle of paper ... ...Trade Centers in New York City. Other hijackers crashed a plane into the Pentagon and the passengers who took over the hijackers on flight 11 crashed another plane in a field. Years later the U.S sent in Navy Seals to Bin Laden’s home to kill him on May 2, 2011 that of which eliminated another terrorist but was only the part of the war that was brought by Bin Laden on September 11,2001.
