Homeschooling and classroom education in the U.S: the negative effects of homeschooling on teenagers in the U.S.

Education is the most vital aspect of young teenagers ' development. Parents pay significant attention to their children’s education. They are concerned about the knowledge that their children acquire in classrooms, thus, they generated a new, alternative system called homeschooling which gained popularity back in 1970’s (Wetzel, 2012). Though, the question is yet to be argued: can homeschooling provide broad, interactive and nationally recognized education to young teenagers in the U.S.?
This would have never come to my mind until I met my American friend at church, whom I had only seen at church but nowhere else. He is homeschooled, along with 2 million Americans (Wetzel, 2012). According to the study by Lawrence M. Rudner, the national averages of academic achievement of homeschooled 8th graders are 26% to 36% higher than the national average of public schooled 8th graders (1999). However, classroom education offers teenagers not only nationally recognized education but also a wide variety of advantages that are unavailable to homeschooled teenagers. Although homeschooling for young teenagers may be successful in some academic areas, it can 't provide some of the diverse benefits of classroom education in the U.S.
Homeschooling is a type of education given by parents (Cambridge, 2016). The parent is responsible for the education and resources (Bohon, 2012). Acknowledging the marked improvement in the test scores of homeschooled students, several researchers question the sampling made by proponents of homeschooling. Moreover, several studies confirm that test scores are only a small contributing part of young teenagers’ development. They emphasize that there are more important skills that teenagers have to learn such as socialization, problem-solving, peer-pressure, group interaction, diversification, openness to varying perspectives etc., which are frankly gained at public and private schools.
