Hitory Is The Force That Creates Masterpieces

Since ancient times, people have been known to create literary works to educate and entertain others, or to record history, like the ancient Chinese, English, and Egyptians. However, the contents of literature are somewhat influenced by the time period which the contents are written. For example, the great epic Beowulf found in the 18th century reveals the culture of the Anglo Saxons, or also William Wordsworth’s sonnet “The World Is Too Much With Us”, which describes how people’s perspectives had changed when the Industrial Revolution started. When it comes to novels and fiction, there are quite a few books that can come to mind. The most famous one perhaps is Uncle Tom's Cabin, which was the product of Segregation and partially led to the U.S. Civil War. The Great Gatsby is the product of the Roaring Twenties in the United States. There are books that criticize the society in which their authors lived in. Aldous Huxley's Brave New World, George Orwell’s 1984 and Animal Farm all use satire to criticize society and totalitarianism. In the book 1984, one party plans and controls a country, people have to follow strict rules so that the party can have complete control of their power, which created a world where people’s freedom is unavailable. The book Animal Farm has similar themes, however, Animal Farm is a simulation of the formation of a communist society, which reflects the time period of Soviet Union from the 1920s to 1940s.

Beowulf is the oldest epic found written in old English. Although the date that Beowulf was completed is not known exactly, but estimates state that it was written between the early 8th-10th centuries. ...way of conclusion, it is certain that author’s work and writing style will be affected through the transition of time period. There will always be big explosions of literacy work when big events occurred such as Industrial Revolution and World War II. Surely, this effect will keep on going as long as the human civilization still exist.
