The machine is a Rube Goldberg machine that turns on a light. It has no practical purpose, and exists solely as art. It is exciting and beautiful to watch, but a machine that takes three times as long to do a task that requires very little effort without a machine has no inherent value. It is simply there as art, as something for people to look at and to enjoy.
To look at him, you would not think that Phil Tippett is the creator of some of the most horrific and terrifying monsters ever witnessed by the human race. A quite normal-looking man of average height, with thinning grey hair, he has been at the forefront of movie animation for almost three decades. Phil Tippett is one of the greatest animators of all time, starting off with the age-old techniques of stop-motion and then moving on to the technical computer generated wizardry of today. I chose to write about him because I greatly admire the work he had done in the industry and he has witnessed first hand the technological advances that have occurred during the course of his career. I am also interested in him because as well as being involved in the field of cgi special effects (a career which I also wish to pursue), he was also closely involved in the ground-breaking (for the time) special effects and animation in the Star Wars Trilogy, which happens to be another love of mine.

Like a person is never perfect a person is never always right. When a Teacher teaches their student their method could be true but not right because there is more than one way to teach it. Being one track minded hinders the ability for a person to learn and understand to excel. Enlightening others comes from being open minded and acknowledging there is more than one right being able to face yourself and allowing yourself to take chance and risks regardless the outcome. What meaning could there be if you don’t defeat your pride by stepping into uncharted waters and saying “I stumbled I fell but this is the best part that got me there”. The Rubik’s cube of life is a 6 sided puzzle that represents our lives as students. It shows that we have responsibilities as students. Throughout different grades, we had patterns or routines that helped us out. In worked for many of the grades we passed and really helped out in life. The Rubik cube shows that if we try to follow the same pattern or routine as 7th grade in 8th grade, it will not work. In fact, it might do the opposite, it might help out with one part of our lives as students but fail in others.

The brilliant Albert Einstein once stated “Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.” Illusions, or that which causes our misinterpretations, surround us. Our society loves to deceive and to be deceived. People eagerly flock to magic shows and our children are exposed to countless optical illusions as they go through school; illusions are an integral part of society. As a result, Alyssa and I decided to create our own illusion. After a little research we stumbled upon a drawing of a Rubik cube that, when viewed straight on, appears real. However, turning the page reveals that it is indeed a drawling. Alyssa then embarked on the task to recreate the incredible illusion.

Learning can be a struggle for those who have a difficult time understanding right away. Some students just give up if they can’t figure it out. In his essay, “A Hunger for Books,” noted Richard Wright explains what it felt like when he first discovered the power of writing. Wright mentions he was denied the education, but when he learned he found a new hunger (4). As Wright points out, learning gave him a new hunger. When I was younger, I felt that if I didn’t understand something, then just to give up on it all together. But, after awhile I learned if I continued to keep trying then I will finally got it. It made learning increasingly more interesting.
3D an ever-growing technology that started in the 1800’s, started as photography and grew into a visual success, this report is going to look into the history of 3D technology and go through the how its was originally created to how its created now, to the formats that is used and what to expected in the future. Going to discuss the different styles and variations of the technology and how it has become a great success, and how there could come an end to the technology as there has been a decline in interest and the distribution of 3D Technology.
For my Rube Goldberg project, I took on the challenging task of opening a jack-in-the-box. First, when I had my sketch planned out, my initial reaction to the construction was that it was going to be easy. I figured that if my sketch worked in theory, it had to work when I build it. However, as I am sure many people find, that is not the case. My sketch and my actual construction are very unalike. I did use basic steps and transitions from my sketch in my project, but the way I wanted to complete the simple task was extremely different. Like I said before, things that worked in theory did not work as well as I thought they would on the actual project construction. I realized that gravity can work with you and against you. That is the main reason my project and sketch compatibility did not go as well as I had planned.
