The call on the Gay rights movement in America had every right to happen because it was and in some places still a form against their civil rights. There has been huge amounts of opinions and standing views of the idea concerning “Marriage Equality” or Gay Marriage. When it was first talk of the Term “Gay” during the 1920's and 1930's was kept on a hush until the first known organization called the Society for Human Rights based out in Chicago was started. It was established in form of a new idea presented into society and a very huge threat to the cultural norms of America. In fact we faced different forms of civil rights movements from segregation, right on to homosexual having no rights what so ever, and simply wanting nothing but change so who are we to denied that.

If you were being suspected in any types of acts of homosexuality you was talked of as being sexual perverts. It was a challenge to even present the idea that would actually get people to become aware of Equality among all, and to have them even start thinking a lot differently wasn't going to be an easy situation to get done. If considered one of that homosexual nature, it meant that you were considered as being deviant, and it was a crime against nature.
The 1950's to the 1980's was known as the dark ages for Lesbian and Gay's. They were tortured and they were considered to be of a mental disorder. Gay men were sentenced to mental institutions because they were found to be sexual psychopaths and were also subjected to imprisonment or even often sterilization, castration and Lobotomies to which they believed would help cure a person of homosexuality or behaviors.( quote)

...have a huge boost in the economy where there is a hardship. Marriage rates will increase because we are at a time where divorce rates are at a high in the heterosexual community or there are more single parents that are raising children.

The reason that many people seem to believe that same sex marriage should not become legalized is because they feel it is something that goes against the moral definition of marriage, which is between man and women. They also may tend to feel that it can destroy the term of family values that have been taught in society for ages as traditions.
