Religion has existed for countless centuries. Christianity is one of the major religions in this world, which had people be criticized, battle in wars, and killed for, but it still survived to this day. The purpose of this paper is to study the source of the religion, recognize the teachings, observe its spread throughout the world, and to identify how it stands among people today. Approaching this paper by a factual report I will explain these major points and why we need to know about this religion and other religions that existed before our generation.

Christianity is the largest faith group in the world today. The word Christianity came from “Christ,” which meant the “Anointed One” and the central point of Christianity is that Jesus of Nazareth is “Christ.” Historically speaking, Christianity started in 30 A.D and is the root of monotheistic Judaism. (Strobel, 2007) It started in Judea, which is Israel now, with Jesus Christ and His faithful group of disciples. At this time the Jews were under the Roman power, which they disliked greatly. They were tired of being pushed around, resulting in many of them having to study cultural beliefs of Rome and others just isolated themselves into the wilderness to study Jewish Law and wait for the Messiah (Savior.) There are over 300 prophecies (predictions) that span over 1000 years that are recorded in the Old Testament about the coming of a Jewish Messiah. All these prophecies were true and even long before Jesus walked the earth; mankind knew what His mission for them was through the Word of God. (Niles, 2002)

Nevertheless, the arrival of Jesus Christ unto this earth caused many to be saved and many to hate him. Being born from the Virgin Mary by the Holy Spirit, ...

In Conclusion, Christians have come a long way and have done a great job conserving their faith and spreading it throughout different parts of the world. Earlier Christians have suffered great turmoil for the religion that exists today and people should be thankful everyday that this wonderful religion is here on earth today. The religion is truly a great one, although many other religions branch off of this one, creating beliefs that better fit the people at the time and place. It’s truly amazing how one person can have the strength to stand up and say what he believes in, instead of following others around. That person is not always alone, there is always somebody who believes the same and together that’s how people create something great. “Live your beliefs and you can turn the world around.” Henry David Thoreau
