Today, India is the second most populous country in the world and in 2050 this country – continent should overtake the giant Chinese and to be the largest society in the world with more than 1,6 billion of people. In India, more than 15 million marriages take place each year.
The vast majority of the population is Hindu religion and its organization and its operation is based on the centuries-old tradition and intangible principles. Among these traditions and rules, marriage is central because it is the cornerstone of the harmonious development of the Hindu society. Marriage is primarily a union between two same-class families to sustain the economic continuity and maintain the Hindu Society 's balance.

But now, laws have been enacted to raise the minimum age at which girls can be married. Today, The legal age is 18 years old. However, early marriages continue to be celebrated and tolerated particularly in remote and rural areas.
As a young girl or young man becomes pubescent, many discussions begin to decide what is the best match. The spouse selection will be done within the same caste. Women marry on average between 18 and 26 years while men marry between 25 and 30. However families from puberty decide marriages. Girls may have a future husband chosen from 8 years. The girl remains in his family until the wedding date is fixed by agreement between the two parties.
Love marriages are very rare, although little by little they tend to develop. As for mixed marriages between people of different religions or castes, they remain exceptions to this day.
