Hillary Clinton once said, "we must stop thinking of the individual and start thinking about what is best for society. She has stressed the importance of this quote by continuously trying to better the world. Clinton has taken part of many reforms, positions, and continues to promote equality for all. Throughout her life, she has helped with education, health care, and foreign affairs. Hillary Clinton was an influential woman in the twentieth and still is influential in this century. She has had obstacles in her life and career yet still continued to conquer whatever they may be. She has held many executive positions in her lifetime that have helped her gain experience and knowledge on politics and law. She has broken the stereotype of what a first lady is expected to be and what tasks they may have. Clinton has created a lasting impact to society and continues to expand her legacy on the world today. Hillary Clinton was originally born under the name of Hillary Diane Rodham. She was born on October twenty-sixth in the year 1947. She was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Parkridge, Illinois by her parents, Dorothy and Hugh Rodham. She has two younger brothers by the names of Anthony and Hugh Jr. Rodham. Her parents were very important and influential to her while growing up. Clinton shared her father's interest in politics and her mother's motivation. She began to become interested in the Republican party as a teenager. In 1964, she began to campaign for presidential nominee Barry Goldwater, who was a Conservative Republican. On September 5, 1995 Hillary Rodham Clinton delivered a speech to the United Nations 4th World Conference during a Women Plenary Session, located in Beijing, China. Clinton spoke about how women around the world were not treated equally, how women rights should be equal to human rights, and the ghastly abuse and discrimination women faced around the world. The reason for the conference was to strengthen women, families, and societies in order to empower women to taking control of their lives and not be subject to such discrimination. She emphasized how education, health care, jobs, and political rights were not equal between genders and that the world needed to change. Clinton gave a very convincing speech because of her use of rhetorical techniques. The use of pathos, ethos, logos, and anaphora created a powerful, persuasive argument against the way women were treated around the world. Clintons main goal of this speech was to appeal to the audience and convince them that this is unequal treatment is an immense matter and needs to be addressed all over the world.
Even though people think it’s not “normal” for a female to be president anything is possible. Clinton went to both Wellesley and Yale colleges. When she Yale, she studied to be a lawyer, which she would later become. She eventually found her way to marry. Clinton married William “Bill” Clinton in 1975, and had a child Chelsea. The former President Bill would later become president and that led her to becoming the first lady. As you can see she had to balance a lot in her life so far.

The first lady appears to be trustworthy, in that she holds true to her contract of marriage although her husband has made and abomination of the sacred agreement. The marriage now, however, may actually be more political, but Mrs. Clinton makes it seem that she is not giving up on the marriage, a strong virtue especially in today's society. Mrs. Clinton is also a great liberal and advocates for many minority groups such as homosexuals. This appearance, whether it be true or false, appeals to the greater number of her constituents who are increasingly liberal.

One of many remarkable speeches Clinton gave was the “The Women Rights Speech” on the 4th World Conference on Women Plenary Session, where she used strong words and emotions to appeal the audience. Even though the speech talked about women rights, she wanted everyone including men and children to listen and take action. Bernard “Bernie” Sanders, is one of the best candidates for this years 2016 presidential election. He is the junior United States Senator from Vermont. He has demonstrated his passion towards an equal and stabilized country. Sanders is a man who believes in a country that is equal and all voices should be heard. Socioeconomic issues are to be heard of by all people because these issues are what make the people and the country. His propositions to a better socioeconomic country will better the relationships we have with one another. The goal of Hillary’s speech is to persuade her audience that her ideas are valid, by using ethos, pathos, and logos. Hillary is the First Lady and Senator, she shows credibility as an influential activist for woman rights. “Over the past 25 years, I have worked persistently on issues relating to women, children, and families. Over the past two and a half years, I’ve had the opportunity to learn more about the challenges facing women in my country and around the world” (Clinton 2).
I choose to research Hillary Clinton because I admire the drive and passion she puts into her work. She is a unique global leader whose activism has promoted social change around the world. Warren Bennis, author of On Becoming a Leader author says that, “…true leaders are not born, but made, and they are usually self-made (Bennis, p. 35, 2009).” Hillary is a prominent example of a self-made leader. She invented herself as a public figure through her dedication to human rights and equality. Over the last three decades she has gained the respect and admiration of people around the world. She has spent a career working towards improving people's lives.
