fter High school young adults face a task that will determine the course of their college life. This decision is whether to dorm on campus or commute between school and home. Both options have their pros and cons and heavily depend on the student 's circumstances on which one they will chose. Dorming offers many benefits such as freedom and independance, new found responsibility, being more involved on campus life. Commuting also offers many benefits such as having an off campus job, more freedom to pursue things off campus and save money while getting an education. Choosing one of these options can be very difficult but will be one of the first major decisions in a person 's adult life.

When choosing whether to dorm or commute a person 's family life should be taken into consideration. . Commuters are usually closer with their families and can withstand staying at home due to a comfortable home life.A good home environment could cause someone to want to stay in a familiar setting with their loved ones. Many universities offer event and clubs that meet frequently and cultivate lifelong friendships between students. The close proximity and lack of distractions cause people to garner a social life and have meaning relationships relating to their interests. Commuting can feel isolating with distance and distractions in the way of gaining the social life associated with going away to college. Schools have been more proactive in combating the social isolation that commuters face by holding special events or clubs with people who live of off campus.
