Many people see it as a responsibility to help out the community. Others see it as a waste of time. Although it looks very good on a college application, many teens do not participate in community service. Community service may seem like a waste of time or not a priority for teens. Knowing that around the nation some school have community service as a graduation requirement may startle many people. In my personal opinion I think that for some teens and kids that attend high school community service should be a requirement for some classes. It is very important to help your community. I also see it as a very important aspect for seniors because personally I live in a small community and I think that everyone should have to do something to help out every once in awhile. If I had to do community service I would not narrow it down to one aspect I would involve myself in many ways such as helping the elderly, helping clean up around town, and helping with highway clean up.

Initially, I would make helping the elderly my first community service project. I think it is important to serve the elderly because when they were in their prime they helped us and helped our community. Personally, when I get older I may need help from time to time, so if I helped them out now maybe that would lead to people helping me out in the future. For example, my great grandmother is now ninety years old and I always go visit and help her out. Whether it is a yard work project, opening containers up for her, or simply doing some household chores. I think that it would be a good thing for some teens to volunteer time at the senior center to go play games with some of the older folk. The older generation likes when you take time to be polite and help the...

Clearly, it is important for teens to get involved in community service. I think it would be a good thing for more teens to consider helping out the elderly. By helping out the elderly you can create a lasting impression on them and help them live a more positive life style. It also is proven to improve the health of the elderly if you perform in house care. I think it is equally important to help the community become a safer place by helping pick around town. The more technology and things that come out it is more likely that dangerous or hazardous material to be left around the parks. Last but not least, I think that it is important for people to take part in highway clean ups to pick up litter. I consider these three things to be some of the most important community service projects to be involved in.

Essay on High School Mandating Community Service For Graduation

- In an article written by Linda Saslow titled High School Mandating Community Service for Graduation, she mentions the many pros to mandatory community service.
