Rising to the Challenge
Starting my high school career I was placed into an entry level biology class. Now this class was pretty basic nothing extremely difficult. I loved every second of this class and its subject matter, whether it was the smallest cells or the largest ecosystems. I quickly took to it and knew biology was the class for me. Now fast forward two years. I was just entering my junior year of high school and it was time to schedule the fall classes. I was really unsure of what science I was going to take. Previously I had taken entry level biology my freshman year and chemistry my sophomore year. I already knew that chemistry was not in my future but I did love biology. My high school only offered one other CHS biology class and this class was for no slouches. This classes was a very advanced class and required a lot of time and dedication. I decided that I would try to rise to the challenge and try to tackle this class as a junior when most took it as seniors. As the class started out I thought I would only learn about biology and how things worked in the environment but, I was very wrong. This class taught me more than I could ever imagine. Through this class I learned how to become a better student, how to try, try, and try again, and how to believe in myself.
Just like a lot of other people, I didn’t take high school as serious of I should have. I spent more time hanging out with friends rather than studying or trying to cram a whole chapter into my heads five minutes before the test. But the minute I signed up for CHS biology, I knew my bad habits would have to change. Instead of staying up late to socialize, I knew I had to buckle down and study more and try hard if I wanted to succeed. Honestly, I will be th...

... unnoticed. With so much going on in life it is just hard to take every little lesson and remember it enough to have it drastically change your life but this is what makes the memorable things stand out. They almost just jump out of your memory bank because they are so noticeable. CHS biology has shaped my life so much it is just one of those experiences that I will never forget. I was aged in this class. Changed into a student who understands the importance of knowledge, not just the value of memorizing information for a test. This class has taught me so about science and biology but most importantly it taught me secret lessons that I would not have learned if I had taken an easier course and scrapped by. Being challenged showed me the potential that I could achieve. I finally learned how to become a better student, try more than once, and how to believe in myself.

High School : A Quality Education Essay

- A Quality Education in Oahu, Hawaii My first instinct is to say no, Kalani students do not receive a quality education.
